At its starts, tourism industry existed to serve a select few members of

the populations; those who travelled for trade or business, or for

religion. People travelled because they had no choice and not often for
leisure and pleasurable experiences. Overtime, however, technology
advanced and the standard of living increased—giving way to new and
varied customer segments for the hospitality industry to take on. With
the spread of various innovations on tourism and hospitality industry,
the world became smaller and more accessible. Among its development,
the industrial revolution had the great impact on modern tourism and
hospitality.

Industrial revolution focuses more on travelling for leisure and other

personal reasons, particularly, to have fun and taking a break.
