Academic Preparations
PLM chose the Microsoft Teams as the digital platform for its Learning Management System which
provides for virtual classrooms and digital repository of teaching materials. For now, the University will use
the MS Teams video platform for class meetings but is considering other platforms to accommodate the
PLM students and faculty in a bigger and easier to manage video screens.
Faculty members have uploaded their teaching materials for use by their students and before the official
school year opening, they underwent training and orientation in online teaching. Students were also given
orientation by Microsoft trainers on the use of MS Teams.
This year, over 6,700 PLM students who are Manila residents, registered voters or whose parents are
registered voters are beneficiaries of the Social Amelioration Program. This program entitles them to PhP
1,000 a month during the school year.
In addition, PLM has also partnered with over 20 private institutions and government agencies to provide
financial support for its students.
PLM’s alumni associations have been actively supporting students with financial assistance, books and
computer gadgets.
PLM Tuition Assistance
PLM initiated a tuition assistance program for graduate students in its professional schools, particularly in
the College of Medicine, College of Law and School of Business. Students were given a 50% or 100%
tuition assistance to those with documented proofs of loss of income due to the pandemic. To date, over 40
students have availed of this program.
Work-from-home has been enforced since March, with a rotating skeleton workforce required to report to
our campus on certain days of the week. Shuttle services are provided to employees, while strict disinfection,
social distancing, and health protocols are enforced for those reporting for duty.
Regular sanitation work is done within campus premises, particularly for frequently touched surfaces like
doors, knobs, railings, and desks.
Health declaration forms and prior clearance to report to campus is required for all employees to minimize
possible infections. Those with symptoms like fever, cough, cold, and sore throat are advised to stay home.
Meetings and regular flag-raising ceremonies are done via Zoom to maintain the sense of community, and to
regularly check how each employee is faring.
Although there is no documented local transmission of COVID19 virus, the University is not spared from
the effects of the pandemic.

PLM remains steadfast in its commitment to deliver quality, socially-relevant and innovative research
and education to the Filipino youth.
As the nature of work in business and government where use of information technology and analytical
sciences are now a must for all, PLM will embark on a major overhaul of its academic curriculum and
university infrastructure.
I sincerely believe that a new PLM will emerge that is capable of producing students, researchers and
faculty who are ready to perform their leadership roles in a post-COVID19 era.
Sincerely,
EMMANUEL A. LEYCO
University President
