1. Theory

Projectile motion is the motion of an object thrown or projected into the air, subject to
only the acceleration of gravity. The object is called a projectile, and its path is called
its trajectory.
Projectile motion only occurs when there is one force applied at the beginning on the
trajectory, after which the only interference is from gravity.

A collision is any event in which two or more bodies exert forces on each other in a
relatively short time. For an elastic collision, both the momentum and kinetic energy
are conserved. Impulse was defined as
Impulse, J = Δ p = pf – pi

2. Apparatus
 Marble, ramp,
 Clamp
 Recording paper,
 Carbon paper,
 Meter scale,
 Weighing scale

3. Procedure
 The table was leveled with the end of the ramp.
 The floor was covered with a piece of recording paper and carbon paper was
placed top of the recording paper.
 The recording paper was recorded the mark of each bounce of the ball.
 After the collection of data the carbon paper was lifted.
 The position of collision points on the floor was measured from the distance from
O where O is located by the marble ball.
 S1 and S2 was measured after completed the data collection.
 The ball was released from the top of the ramp.
 The ball was rolled down and bounce on the floor with minimal spin.
 This procedure was repeated 10 times and every time the ball was released from
the same point.
 The heights h and H was measured by a meter scale.
 The circular region that include most of the marks that was determined on the
paper.
 A circle was drawn around the region to take the center of the circles for S1 and
S2.
 The average value of S1 and S2 was obtained.
 The mass of the marble was measured.

6. Discussion
 Being careful not to impart spin on the ball
 Ignore any points that are obviously anomalous
 Reading time must be measured from stop watch carefully.
 To minimize error the procedure must be repeated 20 times.
 Lastly everything must be done carefully especially calculation.
 Height must be take carefully.
