 Contactor is a device, used to close or open the

HT Circuit.

 All Contactors are operated remotely from

Driver’s desk.

 It is dangerous to operate High Tension circuit by

human being.

 These Contactors are operated from Driver’s desk,

remotely.

 When these contactors are operated, HT circuits will

close or open as per requirement.

It consists of low voltage circuit with a switch.

When switch is closed Electro Magnet will energise and will

close the contactor in case of EMC and in case EP contactor, it
will allow air pressure to operate contactor.

In single phase contactor only one set of fixed and movable

contacts are provided.

In three phase contactor three sets of fixed and movable

contacts and all of them are operated simultaneously to
open/close the circuit.
