Instructional Plan

Learning Area: Yr. & Sec: Semester: 1 Duration: 60 mins

Plane Geometry BSEd Math 1-1
At the end of 60-minute period, the students will be able to do the following with
1. LEARNING OBJECTIVES: 90% level of proficiency:
Knowledge recall and practice conditions for triangle congruence
Skills solve problems on corresponding parts of congruent triangles; and
Attitudes develop unity and cooperation in solving given problems on
triangle congruence.
2. CONTENT Solving Corresponding Parts of Congruent Triangles
3. LEARNING RESOURCES Soledad, J. et al. Geometry. 2009. SD Publications Inc. P.88-93.

4. PROCEDURES
4.1 Activity  Routinary Activities

 Prayer and Greetings

 Physical Arrangement
 Checking of Attendance
 Review

Preparatory/ Motivational Activity : “CAN YOU HELP THE ENGINEER?”

The teacher will let the students close their eyes and picture out the situation
below.

Can you help the Engineer? The teacher will let the students close their eyes and
picture out the situation below. We have two congruent triangles (Δ ABC and Δ MON).
The teacher will use these triangles as part of the blueprint of the building need to b
constructed by the engineer. The engineer of the said project wants the students to
help him in determining the measurements of the triangle. However, the given
measurements are not clearly written. Oh no! The engineer really needs some help.

4.3 Analysis Guide Questions:

1. How did you arrive with your answers?

Each group leader who obtain the correct answer in each item will then explain how
they arrived at the correct answer. Other groups who have not obtain the correct
answer will then review their work to determine where they got it wrong.

4.4 Abstraction In the computations of probabilities you should consider the following pointers:

1. Read and understand the problem

2. Extract the needed information/ given
3. Find out the basic concepts involve
4. Solve for all possible probabilities, if possible.
5. Sum up your obtained probabilities, if the total of your probability summation will
equal to 1 you might get it right.

4.5 Application
Problem Solving:

1. Suppose four cards are drawn from a reduced deck of cards “ALL FACE
CARDS”, consisting of 4 KINGS, 3 QUEENS, and 2 JACKS. Let R be the random
variable representing the drawn KINGS.

a. What is the probability that three kings will be drawn?

b. What is the probability that only one king will be drawn?

4.6 Assessment

Solve this problem

1. Suppose 5 coins are drawn from one of my pocket that contains 7 assorted
coin denominations, consisting of 3 five-peso coins, 2 ten-peso coins, and
another 2 1-peso coins. Let C be the random variable representing the drawn
five-peso coins.
a. What is the probability that 2 five-peso coins will be drawn?
b. What is the probability that 1 five-peso coin will be drawn?

4.8 Concluding Activity

(1 minute) MATH may not teach us how to ADD love or SUBSTRACT hate but it gives us hope that
EVERY PROBLEM has a SOLUTION.
