Today I'm talking about environmental organizations and their goals.

But,
beforehand what is the purpose of an environmental organization?
Environmental organizations aim to observe, conserve, and analyze natural
environments. These organizations can produce data and information on the
state of certain natural resources, work to counter the negative environmental
consequences of human behaviour and processes, and try to influence local,
national, and global actions and policies.
Now, let's move on to some examples:
 The World Wide Fund (WWF) is an international non-governmental
organization founded in 1961 that works in the field of wilderness
preservation and the reduction of human impact on the environment.
WWF is the world's largest conservation organization, which seeks to
protect, analyse and monitor the environment against misuse or
degradation from human forces. It has over 5 million supporters from
all over the world and operates in more than 100 countries, for
instance, Canada, Portugal, Russia and China. WWF aims to "stop the
degradation of the planet's natural environment and to build a future
in which humans live in harmony with nature". What's more, it has
launched numerous notable worldwide campaigns and its work is
focused on these six main areas: climate, food, forests, freshwater,
oceans and wildlife. Its iconic logo, which is a giant panda, originated
from a very well-known panda that moved from the Beijing Zoo to the
London Zoo in 1958, named Chi Chi. Chi Chi's unique and spectacular
physical features were ideal to the creation of a logo that would send a
message to the world, regardless of the language barriers: bring
awareness about other endangered species.
 Now let's talk about a Portuguese organization: Quercus - National
Association for Nature Conservation. Quercus is also a non-profit
environmental organization, which was founded in 1985 in Braga,
however, its headquarters is currently located in Lisbon. Its name
comes from the Latin word "Quercus", which translates to "Oak",
which is a characteristic tree of our country that is increasingly
becoming rarer.
To conclude, I would like to raise awareness of the importance of recycling:
recycling reduces the need for extracting, refining and processing raw materials
all of which create substantial air and water pollution. Recycling saves energy
and reduces greenhouse gas emissions as well, which helps to tackle climate
change.
