Submission Format

The submission is in the form of an individual written report. This should be written in a concise, formal
business style using single spacing and font size 12. You are required to make use of headings, paragraphs and
subsections as appropriate, and all work must be supported with research and referenced using the APA
referencing system. Please also provide detail reference using the APA referencing system.

Scenario

While working as an intern in the Human Resources (HR) department of an organization you have been asked
to take part in testing the new recruitment and selection process. This part has three sections; section 1, and
section 3 are individual tasks.

Section two, you will work in a small team (3–4 members) to design a job specification for a particular job
role and then you will take part in an interview simulation for a job role advertised by another team. When
you produce the portfolio, you have to submit all documents individually.

including employment legislation.

● LO4 Apply Human Resource Management practices in a work-related context


You have to produce a document portfolio which should include:

Section 1

1. Referring to some cases, analyze the importance of employee relations in respect to influencing HRM
decision making.
2. With reference to employment legislation, identify the key elements and its impact upon HRM which the
organization must work.
3. Make an evaluation of the key aspects of employee relations management and employment legislation that
affect HRM decision making.

Section 2
4. The design of a job specification for one of a number of given positions in the organization.
5. A CV for each student, tailored to apply for one of the positions advertised by another team.
6. Documentation of preparatory notes for interviews, interview notes based on selection criteria and a justified
decision of the candidate selected.
7. A job offer to the selected candidate.

Note: Produce a written description which illustrates the application of HRM practices in this context.

Section 3

8. With reference to the group activity, write a critical evaluation of the process and the rationale for conducting
appropriate HR practices that influence in decision making.
