QUARTER I Subject: CREATIVE WRITING Module: 1 Week: 1

Lesson: Elements of Short Story

Content Standard: The learners understand imagery, diction, figures of speech, and
variations on language.

Performance Standard: The learners shall be able to produce short paragraphs or vignettes
using imagery, diction, figures of speech, and specific experiences

Competency (Code):The learners differentiate imaginative writing from among other forms
of writing (HUMSS_CW/MP11/12-Ia-b-1)

Objectives: 1. Acquire new words and use each in sentence.


2. Identify the characters and events in the story.
3. Put sequence the events in the story.
4. Write a summary of the story that will include the characters, setting, conflict,
and resolution.

Motivation:
The teacher will show a painting and ask the students if they had ever painted.

Vocabulary:
a. approach
b. pneumonia
c. vine
d. survive
e. masterpiece

After knowing the meaning the students will use the words in their own sentences.

B. During-Reading
1. Give the students a copy of the short story The Last Leaf by O. Henry. The students will
read the story silently.

2. As the students read the text, the teacher will ask the students to underline the name of the
characters, the setting, and words listed in the vocabulary development.

C. Post Reading
Comprehension Check-up

D. Sequencing of events based on the story.

IV. Evaluation:
In the chat box, write the story of the short story that includes the characters, setting,
conflict, and resolution.

V. Assignment:
Go over to the short story again. In your assignment notebook write an essay based on the
guide questions below, picture it and send to our Group Chat in Messenger.
