UAPSA Launches Quadripartite 2018

By: Clyn Joy R. Faraon

Quadripartite is a nationwide annual event organized by the United Architects of the

Philippines - Student Auxiliary (UAPSA) Committee. With this year’s theme, “Exceeding
Limitations through Boundless Connections”, the event aims to amplify ideas, reunite as
one community, and explore cultural diversity. It was held at different places in Manila
on August 25-27, 2018.
The three-day event consisted of three segments with the themes: Hibayo, Balanghai,
Layag, and Paraw.
Hibayo (amplifier in English), the theme for Chapter Presidents’ Assembly and Induction
Ceremony, was held at UAP Headquarters on August 25, 2018. As leaders gather from
different areas of the Philippines, every individual’s testimonials and recommendations
were encouraged for the development of the organization. They believe that their voices
are the strength and driving force of the organization for its continuous growth.
The registration for the Induction Ceremony started at 7AM. From the sophisticated
Modern Filipiñana and Barong attires of the officers and guests down to their polished
leather footwears, the delegates made a very good starter of the event. The rites
officially began at 9AM by a prayer led by the Vice Presidents of 4 areas.
As per the Chapter Presidents’ Assembly, the District Directors presented the compiled
reports of their corresponding chapter presidents followed by the Managing Committee
who presented their plans and progress on their own offices. An open discussion took
place which mostly tackled the benefits of membership, how to have their own discount
partners, and parent chapter relationships.
On the other hand, Leadership Development Program: Balanghai took place on the
second day, August 26, 2018 at the Quirino Grandstand. The registration was arranged
in accordance with their teams. The games then followed where architectural
competitions were included which had separate awards.
The event ended at 4PM by splashing water to the assembly area provided by the
Manila City Hall which was secured by the local government’s provision of emergency
personnel, ambulance and the police.
On the third and last day of Quadripartite 2018, Layag (to sail in English) brought the
ship into the shores of the event.  This segment aims to inculcate deeper knowledge of
the country’s diverse culture and explore them to find the common things among
individuals to know their identity and solidarity.
As the delegates were reunited and bonded during the Leadership development
program, major foundations were set to go together with one goal and vision for the
organization. Katig or the members worked hand-on-hand to support the organization
for the development of every individual.
On the other hand, the evening event began late since crowd control has been a
problem. Since the venue was dimly lit, most delegates often go out which results in the
event venue to be locked for security purposes. Even with the given circumstances, the
event went smoothly as it started.
