Learning Outcomes

 Statement of the knowledge, skills, and abilities individual students should possess and can
demonstrate upon completion of a learning experience or sequence of learning experience.

Difference between General and Specific Objectives

General Objectives

 Encompasses the entirety or the primary goal to be achieved.

Specific Objectives

 Encompasses many small steps to follow, many short-term goals to achieve.

Example

Topic: English Speaking Lesson

General Objectives:

Speak English fluently.

Specific Objectives

1. Familiarize the grammar rules


2. Understand the different Parts of speech
3. Develop writing skills
4. Comprehend reading books
5. Oral reporting

General Outcomes:

Possess extraordinary communication skills.

Specific Outcomes

1. Able to apply the grammar rules in a sentence


2. Construct sentence properly
3. Ability to compose an essay
4. Acquired huge vocabulary
5. Express and communicate ideas through speaking

A Learning Outcomes describe the overall purpose or goal from participation in an educational
activity. It is therefore considered to be the General because it includes much broader statement.

Objectives are used to organize specific topics or individual learning activities to achieve the
overall outcome. It encompasses many small steps to follow.
