What is Cygnus?
Cygnus is a prominent constellation in the northern sky, its name means
“the swan” in Latin and it is also known as the swan constellation.
Cygnus is also known as the Northern Cross.
The 16th largest constellation in the night sky, occupying an area of 804
square degrees.
Cygnus is also identified as Orpheus, the Greek tragic hero who was
murdered by the Thracian for not honoring Dionysus. After death, Orpheus
was transformed into as Swan and placed next to his lyre in the sky. The
lyre is represented by the neighboring constellation Lyra.
About Cygnus:
The stars which prominent are Deneb, Veg and Albireo (which also
comprises the ‘’Summer Triangle’’.
Deneb - the brightest star, mark as the tail of the swan.
Albireo - marks the Swan’s head.
Sad’r -near the center, marks the Swan’s breast.
