Qatar World Cup Migrants, Financial Stability Pave Way for

FIFA 2022
Difficult times coupled with the pandemic couldn’t stall Qatar’s preparedness for FIFA
World Cup 2022. The country is one powerful Gulf economy that has been able to
sail through the pandemic along with false and negative media without facing any
major financial shortcomings. Meanwhile, not only its Gulf neighbors, but many other
countries around the world struggled to cope with the compulsory nation-wide
lockdowns that forced them to shut down their economies. The credit for a stable
economy goes to the tireless Qatar World Cup migrants, running it from behind the
scenes.

It isn’t just Qatari spokespersons or authorities that are affirming the readiness of the
2022 World Cup hosts, but none other than the FIFA president himself, Gianni
Infantino, who has time and again appreciated Qatar’s World cup preparation
progress.

In 2020, Infantino visited the State of Qatar to check the work in progress himself
and was left speechless once he witnessed the glory of the Al Bayt stadium, one of
the 8 stadiums that will be hosting World Cup 2022 matches.

In 2021, again, Infantino went a step ahead in applauding the work done by Qatar
World Cup migrants and the State itself, despite the harsh impact of the COVID-19
second wave in Qatar.

He said, "We will see the best World Cup ever in November, December 2022 in Qatar.
The best World Cup ever means a World Cup with full stadiums. I am 100 per cent
sure about that."

"I'm 100 per cent sure about that because we have already witnessed in one of the
most difficult periods, how we could organise the Club World Cup in Qatar with 30
percent occupancy of stadiums in a healthy and safe environment."

Many doubted the potential of the country in getting ready the stadiums and other
related infrastructure for the FIFA World Cup. The uncertainty was coupled with
allegations and false reporting of abuse against Qatar World Cup migrants.

Regardless of the negative PR thrown at Qatar, it responded graciously to the

criticism and proved its mettle with actions and not words.

FIFA 2022 is getting closer to its final showdown with every passing day and so are
global concerns for Qatar’s readiness for the world tournament. However, battling
every prying eye, the tiny Gulf nation not only made sure it was ready in time for the
tournament, but also took care of the Qatar World Cup migrants who made it
possible every step of the way. Fixed minimum wages, to change in working hours to
prevent the heatwave, Qatar flipped the situation around.
