3. Long answers question.

Answer the following questions in your own words in about 150 words each.
a. Describe the different types of bangles which the bangle sellers carry.
Ans- The given poem is about the bangle sellers written by Sarojini Naidu, who
describes various stages of an Indian woman’s life and how her roles change with
the change of her age.
She describes the bangle as a delicate, and bright and a rainbow circle of light.
She described the bangles as the token of love. Bangles are for all aged women.
Silver and blue bangles are made for young girls and maiden. Yellow bangles, just
like sunlit corn are for brides and they are very twinkling, luminous, tender and
clear. Sarojini Naidu referred to the bangles for old aged women as purple and
gold-flecked grey.
So, this way Sarojini Naidu, described the type of bangles which bangle sellers
carry.

b. How does the poet describe the faithful wife who is now middle aged?
Ans- The poet, Sarojini Naidu, analyses various stages of a woman’s life through
various kinds of bangles she wears. In the poem 'Bangle Sellers ' the poet
Sarojini Naidu describes the faithful life of a wife who is now middle aged.
She says that such woman has journeyed to the middle of her life. Purple
and gold-flecked grey bangles are perfect for her. She has raised her
children very well with all her love and affection and served her husband
and household very carefully.  She has devoted all her love and care for
her family and has remained always faithful. She worships the gods along
with her husband and lives her life happily.

c. What image of the bangle buyers at the temple fair do you gather from the poem?
Ans- In the poem ‘The Bangle Sellers’, the sellers say that they bear their loads
of bangles to the temple fair to find more prospective buyers. Here ‘temple fair’
has its own significance in the context of the poem. The temple fair is the place
that perfectly connects the society’s emotions and the rich culture and heritage of
the nation.
The Bangle Buyers were exclusively women of all aged, demanding bangles
according to their age. There were young girls and maidens demanding for silver,
blue or green bangles. The yellow-colored bangles were demanded by brides, as
this bright color emphasizes their bright future i.e., new marriage. The experience
of buying bangles is an act of celebration of womanhood. The poet also presents
the colorfulness and emotions attached with the bangles. This poem conveys the
whole of a woman’s transition in life from a maiden, to a wife then a mother, and
all the emotion attached with it.
