PROJECT

(Sixth semester)

ISBJ (DIGITAL MEDIA)

SYNOPSIS
AFFILIATE MARKETING

SUBMITED TO
DR. RAJEEV GHODE SIRS
PROJECT TOPIC AND IDEA (AFFILIATE MARKETING)

The Main idea is to create a affiliate marketing website/ blogs and get a niche product to sell
over it by making use of articles and comparison videos and images. So that the consumer
gets the idea of the product like about features ,price and about its pros and cons. And
promoting and ranking the site through SEOs and other word press tools and PPC
advertising.
The idea behind it is that we promote other people’s products, often through an  affiliate
network (example – social media page , website ,blogs etc) earning a commission if
people actually end up buying thanks to our marketing.

It’s based on revenue sharing. If we have a product and want to sell more, we can offer
promoters a financial incentive through an affiliate program. If we have no product and
want to make money, then we can promote a product that we feel has value and earn an
income from it as an affiliate marketer.

Affiliate marketing is the process of earning a commission by promoting other people’s

(or company’s) products. You find a product you like, promote it to others and earn a
piece of the profit for each sale that you make.

The

client/product/Service/company
Our product or niche for the project is WEARABLE GADGETS
Because affiliate marketing works by spreading the responsibilities of product marketing and
creation across parties, it manages to leverage the abilities of a variety of individuals for a
more effective marketing strategy while providing contributors with a share of the profit. To
make this work, three different parties must be involved:

1. Seller and product creators.

2. The affiliate or advertiser.
3. The consumer.
4. The Network

 The Merchant: Sometimes also known as the creator, the seller, the brand, the
retailer, or the vendor. This is the party that creates the product. It can be a big
company, like Dyson, who produces vacuum cleaners.
Or, it can be a single individual like Mariah Coz, who sells online courses to female
entrepreneurs .
From solo entrepreneurs to startups to massive Fortune 500 companies, anyone could
be the merchant behind an affiliate marketing program. They don’t even have to be
actively involved. They just have to have a product to sell.

 The Affiliate: This party is sometimes also known as the publisher. Affiliates

can also range from single individuals to entire companies.  An affiliate
marketing business can produce a few hundred dollars in commissions each
month or tens of millions of dollars.
It’s where the marketing happens. An affiliate promotes one or multiple affiliate
products and tries to attract and convince potential customers of the value of the
merchant’s product so that they actually end up buying it.

 The Consumer: The customer or consumer makes the affiliate system go

’round. Without sales, there aren’t any commissions to hand out and no revenue
to be shared.
The affiliate will try to market to the consumer on whatever channel they see fit,
whether that’s a social network , digital billboards  or through a search engine
using content marketing on a blog .
Whether the consumer knows that they are part of an affiliate marketing system or
not is mostly up to the affiliate.
Some choose to let their consumers know and more and more affiliates tend to be
transparent  about their marketing being incentivized financially, but others don’t.
They let the tracking system work in the background, where the customer can follow
the purchase process just as usual and the affiliate still ends up being paid a
commission.
The consumer will not typically pay a higher price to the affiliate marketer, as the cost
of the affiliate network is already included in the retail price.

 The Network: Only some consider the network part of the affiliate marketing
equation.  But, I believe that an affiliate marketing guide needs to include
networks, because, in many cases, a network works as an intermediary between
the affiliate and the merchant.
While you could technically promote an online course someone has created and just
arrange a direct revenue share with them, letting a network such as ClickBank or
Commission Junction handle the payment and product delivery  puts a more serious
note on your affiliate marketing.
Sometimes, affiliates have to go through an affiliate network  to even be able to
promote the product.  For example, this happens if the merchant only manages their
affiliate program on that network.
The affiliate network then also serves as a database of lots of products, out of which
the affiliate marketer can choose which to promote.\

Affiliate marketing is a popular tactic to drive sales and generate significant online revenue.
Extremely beneficial to both brands and affiliate marketers, the new push towards less
traditional marketing tactics has paid off. In fact:
 81% of brands and 84% of publishers leverage the power of affiliate marketing, a
statistic that will continue to increase as affiliate marketing spending increases every
year in the United States.
 There is a 10.1% increase in affiliate marketing spending in the United States each
year, meaning that by 2020, that number will reach $6.8 billion.
 In 2018, content marketing costs were gauged to be 62% of traditional marketing
schemes while simultaneously generating three times the leads of traditional methods.
In fact, 16% of all orders made online can be attributed to the impact of affiliate
marketing.
 In March of 2017, Amazon’s affiliate structure changed, offering rates of 1-10% of
product revenue for creators, providing the opportunity for affiliates to dramatically
increase their passive income based on the vertical they’re selling on.
 The affiliate marketing of Jason Stone, otherwise known as Millionaire Mentor, was
responsible for as much as $7 million in retailer sales just in the months of June and
July in 2017.

Also, according to a study of “NASSCOM (The National Association of Software and

Service Companies)” in 2019 found that India is the third-largest start-up ecosystem in the
world.

Apart from the above, from the start of 2020, since CoVID 19 has come to India, people
from the private sector are regularly losing their jobs, which affects their families and
livelihood. Affiliate marketing can allow them to earn from their home.

Online sales have been increased since CoVID 19.It’s a perfect time, to begin with, for
affiliate marketing. Put your passion and expertise to work and let them help you earn extra.
