Lesson Plan in Grade 7 English

A. Content Standard
The learner demonstrates understanding of: pre-colonial Philippine literature as a means of
connecting to the past; various reading styles; ways of determining word meaning; the sounds of
English and the prosodic features of speech; and correct subject-verb agreement..

B. Performance Standard
The learner transfers learning by: showing appreciation for the literature of the past;
comprehending texts using appropriate reading styles; participating in conversations using
appropriate context-dependent expressions; producing English sounds correctly and using the
prosodic features of speech effectively in various situations; and observing correct subject-verb
agreement.

C. Learning Competencies
1. Differentiate reality from fantasy based on a material viewed. (EN7VC-I-g-9)
I. Objectives
At the end of the lesson the students should be able to:
a. Describe fantasy and reality
b. Distinguish reality and fantasy based on a material viewed.

II. Subject Matter


Topic: Fantasy and reality

Reference: English Learner’s Material, pp. 101 – 103

Materials: PowerPoint
Laptop
Printed words and pictures

III. Procedure
A. Primary Activities
Prayer
Greetings
Checking of attendance
B. Review
Recall activity last meeting.
C. Motivation
Compare the two pictures in the board.
Have the students express their ideas about the pictures.
D. Activity
Read the poem “ The old Woman Who Swallowed a fly”
The students will share their opinions about the poem.
Have the students answer questions.

E. Application
By group:
 Divide the class into 5 groups.
 Watched the video the story “ Three Wishes”
 Express in front of the class the moral lesson in the video.
 Group 1: Explanation
 Group 2: Reciting a poem
 Group 3: Singing a song
 Group 4: Sketch/ drawing
 Group 5: Role playing
 Distinguish reality and fantasy from the video. ( 5 min)
 Present the result of the activity in front of the class.
F. Abstraction
Discuss to the students what is reality and fantasy.
Have the students identify the reality or fantasy from the poem “ The old woman
swallowed a fly”.

IV. Assessment
(1-10.) Identify whether the statement is reality or fantasy.

V. Assignment
As teenagers, what are your dreams?
Draw your dreams in two ways. Reality based dream and fantasized dreams and
explain.

Students found the starter activity very interesting because it required individual
responses.

There were 33 learners out of 37 earned 80% in the evaluation.

c. Did the remedial lesson work? No. of learners who have caught up with the lesson.

The poem and the story caught the attention of the learners.
