Lesson Idea Name: The Adventures of a Hungry Caterpillar Activity
Content Area/Grade Level(s): Pre-K
Content Standard Addressed: For this lesson I want the students to be able to match the pictures in
the correct order that the story goes in. They will learn how to engage in student activity and
working with each other through this project.
Technology Standard Addressed: The technology standard that is addressed in this lesson would be
Global Collaborator because this lesson has students from all different walks of life collaborating on
a project. They also get a great innovative way to learn instead of the normal pen and paper.

Guiding Question(s): How can

Selected Technology Tool: The tool I chose for my students to used was Padlet. With Padlet they
are going to be doing a creation of the story “The Very Hungry Caterpillar. I have created cards with
the different types of foods that the caterpillar will eat throughout the story before eventually
turning into a butterfly. The cards will be shuffled, and they will have to match the pictures to the
sentence in the correct order to tell the story.

Levels of Technology Integration:

☐ Infusion Level: Students may work at a higher Bloom’s Level, but they do not have any “Voice or
Choice” during the activity and most of the decisions are made by the teacher.

☐ Integration Level: We would like to see ALL lessons/activities reach this level. The project is
student-driven and student-led. Students should have “Voice and Choice” in the activities,
selecting the topic of study and determining the technology tool to demonstrate mastery of the
standard. The teacher becomes more of a facilitator.

☒ Expansion Level: The projects created are shared outside of the classroom, publishing student
work and promoting authorship. This could be reached by showcasing the project on the school’s
morning newscast, posting the project to the classroom blog, or publishing via an outside source.
Your student’s projects must be shared locally or globally to meet this level.

Universal Design for Learning (UDL): I believe children can benefit from this activity by learning
sequencing with storytelling. They are engaging in learning with each other and the teachers are
helping them with this collaboration project as well to make sure they are grasping the concept of
how to use Padlet.
Lesson idea implementation: For this lesson the teachers will create a Padlet for storytelling for the
students with the story “The Very Hungry Caterpillar.” We will be working on sequencing by
matching the pictures to the story. They will be asked to use their knowledge and engage with each

other to put the story together.
Reflective Practice: After doing this activity together I believe that this will help students learn how
to work together in group projects and putting things in order together. They will learn that engaging
with each other in group activities can be a fun and innovative way to do class activities instead of
just working with just a paper kind of matching game. This app can make learning easier and more
accessible to students in the classroom. To modify this activity I would say that you could do an ABC
book and have them identify the letters of the alphabet and the pictures that go with each letter if
the story sequencing might be too hard for them.
