Multigrade Lesson Plan

Subject: Science

Topic: Plants

All three grades will sit separately as the nature of activity for both grades (2 & 3) is different. Grades 2
and 3 will further be divided into groups of 4 students each and the resource/material (flower and plant)
given to each group. Grade 4 does not have to sit in a separate group since their job is to assist other
graders in their activity.

Materials required:

A flower exposing all its sexual parts so that it is easy for students to locate where stamen, stigma and
other parts are.

A plant planted in a transparent pot so that students can see the roots and identify them along with
other parts of plant.

Objective:

To identify different parts of a plant (Grade 2)

To identify different parts of flower (Grade 3)

To recall and revise the parts of plant and flower (Grade 4)

Teacher’s Input:

Grade 2

What do you already know about parts of plant?

Will you be able to identify them in a real plant?

Grade 3

Can you recall parts of a flower

Now can you identify them in a real flower?

Grade 4

Since you’ve heard parts of flower and plant from your juniors, will you now assist them in identifying
these parts from real plants and flowers?

This way you can better recall your concepts.

Guided Practice:

Grade 2 & 3

These two pictures will be displayed in front of students so that they get an idea what they’re looking
for. They would have already answered the questions in ‘teacher’s input’ so displaying the answers
won’t disturb or detract our objective.
Independent Practice:
Students will be given worksheets to fill. They will write the parts they’ve identified in plants and
flowers.
Closure:

Worksheets will be collected and a quick summary of the entire activity will be presented either by
teacher herself or by students. On leaving the class, all students will be given a sweet for motivation and
encouragement
