1 (17 MAY)
• WORLD HYPERTENSION DAY is celebrated on
this day every year.
• This day is initiated by World Hypertension
league, which is itself an umbrella to
organisation of 85 national hypertension
societies and leagues.
• This day was initiated to increae the
awareness of hypertension.
• The expanded theme for World Hypertension
day 2020 is MEASURE your Blood
pressure,control it,live longer ,with a goal of
increasing high blood pressure
(BP)awareness in all populations around the
world.

• On this day WORLD TELECOMMUNICATION
DAY IS CELEBRATED.
• This day is being celebrated since 17may 1969.
• This day marks the anniversary of signing of the
first international telegraph convention and this
also coincides with the day when the
international telecommunication union was
formed .
• This day raises the global awareness about the
use of internet and information and
communications technologies or ICT for
changing societies and economies.
• It also aims towards making both information
and communication easily accessible to
people living in remote and rural areas.
• The theme of this year of World
Telecommunication Day is Bridging the
standardization gap , it focuses on power of
data for development and aims to explore
how to turn complex and unstructured data
into actionable information to help move
development forward.

• ON THIS day britain officialy declared war
against France on 17 may 1756.
• This was SEVEN YEARS WAR and was the
global war fought ,it involved all 5 European
great powers of the time i.e. The kingdom of
great britain ,prussia ,france and the
habsburg monarchy of Austria and also the
russian empire .
• This 7 year war was faught in other
continents like Europe,North America,south
America ,Africa and Asia .
• This war ended on 15 february 1763 thus it
was faught for 6 years,8 months,4 weeks and
1 day.

• On 17 may 1769 the british east India company
put many forced restrictions ON THE WEAVERS
OF BENGAL TO DESTROY THEIR TEXTILE
INDUSTRY.
• For the centuries the handloom weavers of
Bengal has produced some of the world most
desirable fabric especially in fine muslins .
• Bengal textiles were exported to
Egypt,Java,Persia ,Japan ,China on trade routes.
• The value of bengal textiles export alone is
estimated to have been around 16 million
rupee annualy in 1750,but then british took
power everything changed.

• The famous indian singer PANKAJ UDHAS was
born in this date in the year 1751,in Jetpur,a
city in Gujrat.
• He is a gajal singer ,he is now 63 years old.

• Famous comedian CHARLIE CHAPLIN’S stolen
body was found.
• The coffin containing the body of Charlie
chaplin was missing since his grave was
robbed 11 weeks ago-has ben found .
• It was dug up from a field about a mile away
from the chaplin home in corsier near
lausanne,switzerland.
• Chaplin dies on Christmas Day in 1977 at the
age of 88.

• ON THIS DAY the pakistani news anchor Daniel
Pearl body was found as he was murdered by
beheading.
• He was killed on 1 february 2002 at the age of
38 in Karachi,Sindh,Pakistan.
• His body was discovered on 17 may 2002,now
his resting place is Mount sinai Memorial Park
Cementary in Los Angeles,california,U.S.
