GENERAL
Introduction
This chapter provides information relating to the physical description, including all
major components comprising the machine, provides a description of the machines
basic operation, and specifications of the machine.
Physical Description
The machine consists of the following major components (in BOLD) and the related
sub assemblies, which are described in detail in the following pages:
• Cashbox Assembly,
Monitor Assembly
Coin Entry
Monitor Door Release
Chip Tray
Credit Reset/Audit Mode Switch
(Crown Machines use separate switches)
Button Panel Assembly
Bill Validator
Armrest
There are two lock assemblies mounted on the right side of the cabinet. The upper lock
assembly secures the Monitor Door Assembly locking bar. A knurled lever protruding
from the right side of the machine below the upper lock assembly retains the Monitor
Door Assembly locking bar. The lower lock assembly allows the operator to perform
Credit Reset and Audit Mode functions.
Cashbox
The Cashbox receives all coins that are diverted by the Coin Diverter once the Hopper
has reached a predetermined level. The Cashbox is secured by a lock assembly and
can be released by rotating the lock assembly clockwise. The Cashbox can then be
removed. A plastic container in the Cashbox allows the operator to retrieve coins
without completely removing the Cashbox.
A microswitch at the rear of the Cashbox receptacle senses that the Cashbox has been
removed.
Monitor Assembly
The Monitor Assembly comprises a Monitor Control Assembly and a Frame Assembly.
The Frame Assembly allows the Monitor Assembly to be removed and installed with
ease by the use of connectors and receptacles that are fitted at the rear of the Frame
Assembly and Cabinet Body Assembly.
Monitor Assembly
Monitor Assembly
Access to the Monitor Assembly is gained by rotating the lock assembly on the right
side of the Cabinet Body Assembly clockwise, lowering the knurled lever below the lock
assembly (to release the locking bar) and opening the Monitor Door Assembly (from
the right side). This also provides access to the Monitor Control Panel Assembly for
monitor adjustment.
A microswitch adjacent to the Monitor Door Assembly locking bar senses when the
locking bar is not in the locked position.
Coin Chute
(coin elevator to chip tray)
Coin Validator
Coin Diverter
Coin Chute
(coin diverter to coin hopper)
Cashbox Chute
(coin diverter to cashbox)
There is a lock assembly and a release mechanism on the lower edge of the Control
Panel Assembly. The assembly, when unlocked allows the retention lever to be moved
(right) to release the assembly. The assembly, when released, is aided in rotation to
the full open position by a Gas Strut Assembly.
There are several other major components attached to the Control Panel Assembly.
These include the Meter Assembly, Coin Chute Assembly, Coin Validator / Diverter,
Chip Tray Assembly, Bill Validator Door Assembly, Bill Validator Assembly, Button
Panel Assembly, Cashbox Chute Assembly, Arm Rest, Printer Assembly (if installed),
Player Tracking Module (as installed), Coin Entry Guide (as installed), and the Meter
Blanking Panel (as installed).
An optical switch at the base of the Control Panel Assembly senses when the
assembly release lever is released and an additional microswitch senses when the
Control Panel Assembly is opened.
A microswitch situated on the underside of the Bill Validator Locking Arm senses when
the Bill Validator is unlocked for servicing of the Bill Stacker
Bill Validator
The Bill Validator determines whether to accept or reject bank notes. If the Bill Validator
rejects a note, the bill returns to the player through the Bill Validator Door Assembly. If
the Bill Validator accepts the note, it is guided into the Bill Stacker for storage. The Bill
Validator can be separated on a pivot to provide access to clear minor bill jam
clearances.
The Bill Validator incorporates an illuminated bezel which indicates to the player
whether the Bill Validator can accept notes and of which denominations. The
illuminated bezel incorporates four rows of LEDs which when operating normally
illuminate sequentially, indicating that notes may be entered into the machine. Constant
illumination of a single row of LEDs indicates that there is a fault associated with the
validator (refer to the Bill Validator Bezel Error Display list in Chapter 5).
Bill Stacker
The Bill Stacker provides a secure facility for storing notes (up to 500) accepted by the
Bill Validator for retrieval by the operator. The stacker contains a memory device that
records the number and denominations of notes it contains. The stacker comprises a
lock assembly for access to the stored notes once the stacker has been removed from
the machine. The interior of the stacker accommodates a mechanism that retains the
notes under spring tension once they have been inserted. The Bill Stacker connects to
the Bill Validator when the Bill Validator Assembly is in the lowered (normal) position by
the use of a self-aligning connector, which disconnects from the Bill Validator when the
Bill Validator Assembly is rotated to remove the stacker for note retrieval.
Arm Rest
The Armrest is provided for player comfort and to preclude injury.
Security Housing
Ventilation Fans
