TAKE HOME TEST - Data Analyst

You have been invited to the Take Home Test round for the Data Analyst role at
MPOWER Financing. As part of this round, please review the questions presented below
and share your responses on the excel sheet provided.

1. The excel sheet contains transaction data from an online retail website. Please use this
data to complete following tasks in the sheet:

a. Calculate Total Amount for each transaction record. Total Amount is

Price*Quantity
b. Calculate summary statistics for all transactions in the excel spreadsheet.
Following summary statistics must be calculated:

Total Quantity
Total Amount
Max Price
Min Price
Max Quantity
Min Quantity

c. Make following formatting changes in the document:

i. Format Price column in the transaction data to currency format with
2 decimal places.
ii. Format Total Amount column in the transaction data to currency
format with 0 decimal places.
iii. Format Commission rate column in the transaction data to
percentage format with 0 decimal places.
iv. Format Transaction Date format from Number to Date.

d. For transactions where Commission Applicable = Yes, calculate Commission

Amount (Total Amount * Commission Percentage for each transaction).
Commission Amount would be 0 where Commission Applicable = No. Format
the Commission Amount column in currency format with 2 decimal places.

e. Create a pivot table to show summary of total transactions for each day
(transaction date).

2. Vijay owns a company which sells tennis balls to customers. Use the tables Unit Pricing
and Order given below to calculate the Value (in $) for each customer using (i) Nested if
and (ii) VLookup.
Ensure that the result is the same in both cases. Please provide your workings in the excel
sheet on the tab labelled ‘Q2’.
