Indicators for Factors 1 to 4 of the DepEd Evaluation Rating Sheet

for Story Books and Big Books

Important: These indicators will serve as the evaluator’s guide in assigning points for specific criterion items
under each Factor of the rating sheet. For ratings of 3 and below, indicate specific pages with findings applicable
to the criterion item and briefly explain inadequacies noted in the space provided in the rating sheet.
Factor 1: Content
1. Story
Indicators:
4 - The material satisfies all of the indicators.
3 - The material satisfies 3 of the indicators.
2 - The material satisfies 1 to 2 of the indicators.
1- The material does not satisfy any of the indicators.

2. Socio-cultural Sensitivity
Indicators:
4- The material satisfies all of the indicators.
3- The material satisfies 3 of the indicators.
2- The material satisfies 2 or only 1 in any of the indicators.
1- The material does not satisfy any of the indicators and has 1 or more ideological,
cultural, religious, racial, and gender biases and prejudices.

3. Developmental Aspect
Indicators:
4 -The material provides 2 or more developmental needs of children.
3 -The material provides at least 1 developmental need of children.
2 -The material does not appropriately address the developmental need/s of children.
1 - The material does not address any of the developmental need/s of children.

4. Plot/Story Line
Indicators:
4 - The story satisfies all of the indicators.
3 - The story satisfies 4 to 5 indicators.
2 - The story satisfies 2 to 3 indicators.
1 - The material satisfies only 1 of the indicators.

5. Characters
Indicators:
4 - The story satisfies all of the indicators.
3- The story satisfies 2 of the indicators.
2- The story satisfies only 1 of the indicators.
1- The story does not satisfy any of the indicators.

6. Visuals
Indicators:
