WORDS OF INSPIRATION

Designing a presentation without an

audience in mind is like writing a love letter
and addressing it 'to whom it may concern'.

Define your Objective
SELF-ASSESSMENT
01
When you make a presentation, it is important to first clarify your
objective. Begin with the end in mind to know what you are working
for.
Why have I been asked to present?

What do I want to achieve?

How will my presentation support business

targets or strategy?

What personal goals do I want to achieve?

What do I want the audience to know and do

after my presentation?
02 Identify your
Topic
When deciding on a speech or presentation topic,
you might naturally want to talk about something
you know very well. Although this is important, it’s
only part of the equation when deciding on a
suitable speech topic.
BRAINSTORMING!!!

How much do I know about the topic?

Am I passionate about the topic?

Will the audience be interested in the topic?

What type of audience will you be speaking to?

Know your Audience
UNDERSTANDING YOUR 03
AUDIENCE BRINGS CONFIDENCE

Their general age, gender, education level, religion,

language, culture, and group membership—is the single
most important aspect of developing your speech.
Analyzing your audience will help you discover
information that you can use to build common ground
between you and the members of your audience.
Who are they?

What do they want?

What do we have in common?

What do they know?

What is their mood?

What are their Doubts, Fears and Misperceptions?

Work on the Time Limit 04
Speaking over your allowed time is disrespectful and will
annoy at least some people in your audience. It’s a
privilege to have their attention, whether it’s for 5
minutes or 5 hours. Don’t abuse it! End on time — every
time.
Know your allowed time

Plan your content and edit as necessary

Rehearse effectively

Start on time

Measure your progress and adjust

05 Research Relevant
Information
PROVIDING VARIETY

Determine how much information you can

present in the amount of time allowed. Also, use
your knowledge about the audience to prepare a
presentation with the right level of detail.
Remember, as you plan the body of your
presentation it's important to provide variety.

Preparation is essential to ensure the
success and logical flow of your
presentation.
Expert Tip Alert!!!

Start with a blank piece of paper and

make an outline.

Tailor your Language
06

but not too between filler articulate &
slowly ideas words pronounce
your words.
07
List possible expectations
your audience may have
from you

As presenters spend time carefully selecting their

material, they also need to spend an equal
amount of time ensuring the presentation meets
the needs of the audience
EXPECTATIONS MAYBE...

Someone who is To be informed To be inspired

relatable
