KOLA STREET
EXPRESSION1 FIBER ARTS Expression Fiber Arts
-Kola Street-
My childhood vacation memories are mostly at my great-grandmother’s home in south Mississippi. It was the central
point on the map when family gathered for the holidays. We easily had 15 people or more (and just one bathroom!)
at celebrations, and the kids were often shooed outside to play. My sister and I invented many games under an
enormous magnolia tree in the backyard.
When my great-grandmother died, my Great Aunt Lydia Mae (pronounced LYE-duh May, don't ask me why) continued
to live there. She was probably the first person I ever saw crochet. She made afghans that were essentially just single,
giant granny squares. We spent hours crafting together, but she never saw me learn to crochet. So, I'm dedicating this
magnolia-blossom-inspired shawl to her and to all the happy times spent together on Kola Street.
We appreciate you downloading our pattern! We pour tons of time and love into each one and hope you enjoy it.
