Objectives

• To design the cutting mechanism for crops on the basis of specification of crop
harvesting and cultivation process.
• To design a mechanism and drive system for collecting and cutting the airheads.
• To select proper type of power source for the drive mechanisms.
• To design the frame which supports all systems like drive system and cutting
mechanisms.
• To select the proper material for the cutting mechanism and for the drive system.
• To develop the system as per the design by selecting proper materials with respect to cost
constraint.
• To design and develope small scale harvesting machine which will be beneficial to the
middle class farmer and easy to use in less cost.
Visit Conducted

• Two visits have been conducted during project selection.

• One is conducted at SINHGAD collage of Engineering, korti Pandhanpur.
• Second one is conducted at Pad. D. Y. Patil collage of Agricultural engg. And
technology, Talsande Kolhapur.
• The main objective behind the visits is to collect the information regarding new
technology such as solar car and harvester.
• From the group of 5 members two have visited to D Y patil collage and remaining
visited to Sinhgad collage of engineering.

Description of Proposed System

• Working: -
• The harvester mechanism consist of two cutter mechanisms the upper cutter
mechanism have chopper and blade cutter to cut earhead.
• The upper cutter is some distance ahead of lower cutter mechanism to collect
earhead first and then sticks of crops.
• To collect the earhead there is conveyer mechanism which will collect the
earhead in the storage pan.
• For providing drive to the cutter mechanism pulley and belt system or gear
system is used.
• At lower section row cutter stabilizer and divider are present which will
collect each row at a time.
