PROCEDURE OF INSPECT OR REPLACE OF THRUST WASHER FOR

BMC2250 CRANE (SH MODEL)

1. Boom down the boom to the boom rest and slag the wire to make sure there no
tension on the wire.
2. Stop the engine and terminate the incoming supply to the slip-ring.
3. Remove the electrical cable for the incoming supply from the slip-ring.
4. Remove the two M36 bolts mounted at king post and remove the slip-ring.
5. Place the slip-ring a side and remove the collector ring mount plate.
6. In the top plate of the revolve pedestal near the outer perimeter are located four
nos. M48 tapped holes. Screw the four holes nos. 350mm long jacking bolts into
these holes. These bolts act as a “screw jack” and will lift the upper work up. you
may also use the hand pump with 50 ton jack place in between the upper work
and the swing gear (Place near to the support bracket) to reduce the turning force
from the jack screws.
7. Raise approximate 5mm up. Remove the four M48 bolts of the upper bearing
retainer plate by hydraulic torque wrench. (Torque value for tighten 6250 Ft. Lbs,
so require more than this value to loosen.)
8. In the retainer plate there are two ¾” UNC tapped holes. Prepare two pad eyes
with the ¾’ bolts ant tighten to the holes for lifting. Remove the retainer plate by
place a lifting bar across the handrail and lift by chain block.
9. Using the hand jack and chain block to align the upper bearing to centre. This is
to ensure when lift up the upper bearing there is no load on the side with cause
difficulty to remove and put back.
10. Same method of lifting retainer plate use to lift the upper bearing.
11. Inspect the nylatron sleeve of the upper bearing for wear. If wear replace new
sleeve or new bearing.
12. Remove the thrust washer and inspect the thrust washer and scraped, wear or
crack. Replace if necessary.
13. Apply grease to the thrust washer (both sides) and place back to the king post.
14. Apply grease to the nylatron sleeve of the upper bearing and install back to the
king post. If difficult to install you can use jack to support.
15. Place back the retainer plate and the four M48 bolts. Using torque wrench to help
to tighten the bolts and torque back to the require value.
16. Remove the four M48 jacking bolts and place back the collector ring mount plate
and slip-ring.
17. Tighten back the two M36 bolts and connect back all electrical cable.
18. You can use the distance between the collector ring mount plate and the retainer
plate as a reference to see how much wear of the thrust washer or you can take the
depth of the four jacking holes as a reference.
19. Take the reading monthly or not more than three months to check the difference.
