06/03/2021 General Meeting Minutes

Meeting Called to order by Jassmine Schmidt at 1940


Attendees: Jassmine Schmidt, Deb Zuhse-Green, Shanda Hubertus, Lys Loney, Jane Grantham and Heather
Kryzkowski attending via phone.

1. Jassmine reviewed the April 2021 meeting minutes.


a. She stated that they are posted on the PHP website.
b. The conference will by October 24-26 with vent certification to take place on 10/26.
c. Registration for the conference will start in August.
d. PHP has materials for recruitment of nurses for any member who would like to help recruit PDN’s.
2. Jassmine stated that the PHP Facebook page is now live.
a. Nurses can make comments on the page now but it is closely monitored for HIPAA compliance.
b. Nurses can share general information (do NOT share information on the Member’s Only portion of
our website with non-members) or tag someone who may be interested in PDN.
3. Jassmine stated that the grace period by DHS for vent certification and CPR is now over.
a. Nurses are encouraged reminded it is their responsibility to monitor their expiration dates.
4. A question was emailed to PHP regarding submitting to the Job Board
a. Jassmine suggested that the parents or client contact PHP to place an ad on the Job Board.
b. This is because the HIPAA form needs to be signed by the parent/guardian/client before a case can be
posted.
5. A question was submitted regarding housework responsibilities.
a. Jassmine stated that PDN responsibilities are all encompassing. We are to do all cares for the client
(supportive cares and nursing cares).
b. Nurses should include Universal and Standard Precautions when caring for their client. This includes
Environmental Infection Control such as light housekeeping and maintaining clean equipment.
c. Work should be shared and if a client is stable and the nurse can see or hear the alarms, he/she
should be able to ensure the client’s space is clean, including clean clothes and anything used for
preparing or feeding the client.
d. This does not mean that the nurse should do the laundry or dishes for the whole family.
6. Jassmine reminded members that the board of directors is a volunteer position and if a nurse emails PHP,
you will receive a response within 2 business days. This is also stated on our website.
7. Jane stated that it is good practice to state in the PA-CPA (Prior Authorization-Care Plan Attachment) that
nurses are to carry out instructions/therapies from PT/ST/OT.
a. Shanda agreed that this is to give the best client outcome.
8. Debbie asked about CPR dates for the conference.
a. Jassmine stated that Cathy has not responded yet to the date. It will either be Sunday afternoon or
Tuesday after the vent certification class.
9. Jassmine stated that Radisson in Madison has already set aside a block of rooms for anyone who wants to
reserve a room early.
a. She also reminded nurses that they may need to double up the classes to avoid a lapse due to the
conference being later in the year.
b. Jane requested members email suggestions for topics for the conference. There was a discussion
regarding wound care, seizure/epilepsy education, or dietitian speaking.
10. Jassmine stated that the Minutes of this meeting will be posted by the end of next week.
a. She also reminded members that the next meeting will not be until September.
11. Shanda stated that PHP can do a 1:1 virtually meeting with members if they have any complex questions
and a board member can help.
