Part I. Types of Research Design: Based on the following titles and situations, determine which type of research

Part II. Types of Research Sampling: Determine from the given examples what sampling is used (probability, non-
probability) and determine also what specific sampling is used (simple random, systematic, stratified, cluster, quota,
voluntary, purposive, availability, snowball)
Example:
Probability – Simple 1. All members of population are given equal chance to be selected as respondents
Random

1. All employees of the company are listed in alphabetical order. From the first 10
numbers, you randomly select a starting point: number 6. From number 6 onwards,
every 10th person on the list is selected (6, 16, 26, 36, and so on), and you end up
with a sample of 100 people.
2. The use of fishbowl technique or randomly selecting respondents form a list inside a
fishbowl.
3. Dividing samples to different strata then sampling follows
4. Selecting every nth element of population
5. Clustering 10 public schools so each one has 10 samples to complete the 100 total
samples.
6. Researcher desires 50 male respondents. The first 50 male students who will
approach the researcher are selected as respondents
7. A study involving diabetic patients where researcher use a list of diabetic patients
and choose the respondents
8. A researcher studying the effects of smoking will select equal number of students
from freshman to senior high school learners.
9. A study about honor students where researchers use a list of honor students and
excluded all other students
10. The company has 800 female employees and 200 male employees. You want to
ensure that the sample reflects the gender balance of the company, so you sort the
population into two strata based on gender. Then you use random sampling on each
group, selecting 80 women and 20 men, which gives you a representative sample of
100 people
