CHAPTER 4

RESULTS, PRESENTATION AND DISCUSSION

Seed Germination: The Reaction of Vigna Radiata to Sodium Chloride

This chapter presents the results, analysis, and discuss the data gathered from
the experiment, whose main objective is to state the possible effects of sodium chloride
on the seed germination of Vigna Radiata. Moreover, the researchers also answered
the research questions based upon the data.

4.1 Results
The results of this study were based on the analysis and observation of the
researchers in the experiment. It was present through tables for better presentation. On
June 18, 2021, the researchers officially stop the observation and concluded their
experiment.

No improvement has been saw for SPROUT 1-3 between 50 days observation
period. For SPROUT 4, because the researchers only used the authentic seed
germination of Vigna Radiata, the seed became a sprout in less than 30 days and
continuously improved until the end of the observation period (Table 1.4).
Table 2.4 RESEARCH QUESTIONS & OUTCOME
RESEARCH QUESTIONS OUTCOME
Does sodium chloride have a bad effect Yes, since the Vigna Radiata's growth
on Vigna Radiata? response to sodium chloride at the four
(4) sprouts did not turn out as expected.
The excessive concentration of salt in soil
might decrease germination and make
plants badly develop.
Does sodium chloride have a good effect Most bean plants, particularly in irrigating
on Vigna Radiata? water, and are highly vulnerable to salt in
soil. Due to the constraints of this
experiment, irrigation water was not used
in this research. There is therefore no
beneficial impact of sodium chloride on
Vigna Radiata seeds on the basis of the
data.
What are the visible changes in the soil The soil was dispersed, most likely
between each experiment? swelled, and slightly dry due of the high
concentration of sodium in the plants, as
the salt reduces plant water intake.
How does sodium chloride use in the This research involved determining the
experiment? effects of salt on growing Vigna
Radiata seeds as well as determining if
there was a maximum concentration that
could be tolerated.
Are there any changes in the Due to the sodium chloride, alterations in
characteristics or the health of Vigna seed health were diminished. Saltwater or
radiata as it is exposed to sodium pure salt may get blocked and
chloride? dehydrated or ultimately drained from the
plant.
How much amount of salt can the Vigna In the process of germination has greatly
Radiata stop germinating? reduced with an increase in salt and no
sprouting of 1.5 tsp. or higher. The less
salt in the water that germinates, the
fewer seeds there are.
The researchers' answered the research questions by the experimental results
and observation (Table 4.2).

The researchers have made 1 cup of each mixture that it was used to water the
seed. Each time of the day, the researchers used fifteen (15) ml of Mixture 1 to watered
SPROUT 1 and fifteen (15) ml of Mixture 2 to watered SPROUT 2. The average
measurement used per day was 45ml. One (1) cup of mixture lasted for seven (7) days
and, the number of mixture rounds used in this experiment was seven (7) rounds for
fifty (50) days (Table 3.4).
