School Lunches and New Menu
I have put the new menus for next term on the school
website and they can be viewed by clicking here. The
changes we have made, we hope, will encourage a few
more children to have a school lunch from September.
Our meat continues to be locally sourced from Littlers
Butchers (and Red Tractor-rated) and other food sourced
through Brakes is supplied with their policy of gaining
food locally, where possible. Donna and her team make
delicious food which is enjoyed by the children and staff.
We will have to increase our price by 10p per day to
£2.40; we have held back on this price increase which
should have happened two years ago, but the increases in
food prices have forced us to do it from September. Even
with this small increase - £2.40 is a great price for the food
that the children receive each day.
Football News
I was delighted to get the following report from a parent
this week:
“On Saturday the Sandiway and Cuddington U8 junior
football team took part in the Tytherington 5-a-side
tournament. They remained unbeaten in the groups
stages and then won their semi-final to set up a match
against the host team. It was 1-1 after fulltime with
C&SJFC winning the penalty shoot-out 2-1.
In the team there are 4 players from Year 3 – Ethan E,
Ethan L, Kit and Max C-G.
Congratulations to the boys for a great win in their first
ever tournament – hopefully the start of many more!”
COVID cases
We continue to monitor the cases locally and in our
school. As I type, we have Reception class at home and
accessing their remote learning, due to return to school
next week. I continue to hope that no other classes are
disrupted. I am hoping that the Government will be
looking at a less disruptive way to manage this in schools
from September.
I am hearing that there will still be some measures
maintained for schools, but full details are not yet
available. I am mindful of what has been successful and
what has been frustrating for parents this year – please be
assured that I will look at the measures and procedures
very carefully and communicate this before the beginning
of next school year.
Lunchtime Team
Due to some changes in hours and resignations, we are
looking to recruit additional members to our lunchtime
team. There is flexibility in the days and times around
lunchtime, as we are operating a staggered lunch over
more than the traditional hour.
The role consists of supervising the children while they
eat their lunch, encouraging them to try new foods and
eat their food with good manners. Outdoor duties
including supervising and playing with the children. Most
members of the team receive training in Emergency First
Aid to ensure that there is a good provision, all members
of the team receive training in safeguarding. Current staff
find the role rewarding and are proud to be part of the
Sandiway Primary School team.

neighbour/friend who is interested, please make contact

staff who are appointed undergo strict safeguarding
checks before their role can start.
Class photos
Yesterday, you will have received an email with a link to
follow to order the class photos direct from Tempest.
Please be aware that if you choose a ‘delivery to school’,
you are most likely to receive these in September due to
the end of term approaching and school being closed for
deliveries.
