Statement of Problem

To identify causes and effects of using social networking on teenagers in the St.Vincent

Community College and to what extent does Social Networking Sites affects the academic

performance of students? The researcher noticed that the teens around the area are spending

extravagant time (over-usage) on Social Networks in the Internet and how social networking

changes the way in which teenagers of the St.Vincent Community College communicate among

themselves and their peers.

Aims and Objectives

The main aim of this assessment is to:

1. Evaluate the degree of the negative impact of social networking site, extensive usage on

academic performance of students.

2. To determine the factors influencing students to participate on social networking site.

3. To determine the necessary precautionary measures that can be taken to reduce the amount of

time and students who partake in social networking site.
