ILLUSTRATED TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT MANUAL

GENERAL

1. Purpose of the manual

The purpose of the Illustrated Tools and Equipment Manual (ITEM) is to provide an illustrated presentation of
all tools and ground support equipment necessary for FALCON aircraft maintenance, as recommended by
the aircraft manufacturer.
The tool numbering is done in the form that follows: TO-XX-YYY:
Ÿ TO means that this item is a tool or Ground Support Equipment (GSE),
Ÿ XX reflects the ATA chapter to which the tool function belongs,
Ÿ YYY is an incremental number.
Example: TO-28-001 for the fuel tank sump draining tool.
Ÿ 28: represents the “FUEL” ATA chapter to which the tool function belongs,
Ÿ 001: the tool is the first one listed in the specific tool list for the “FUEL”.
For kits, the syntax is: KI-XX-YYY:
Where XX corresponds to the ATA chapter and YYY specifies the sequence number of the tool/kit.
Example: KI-34-300 for the radar altimeter configuration module programmer kit, used for the AVIONICS
system.

2. Breakdown of the manual

The Illustrated Tools and Equipment Manual is divided into the following sections:
Ÿ TOOL BOX
Ÿ LIST OF TOOLS

3. TOOL BOX
This section contains a list of components included in:
Ÿ the "routine maintenance" tool box,
Ÿ the "piping" tool set,
Ÿ the "avionics" tool set,
Ÿ the additional tool set.
This list is applicable to all FALCON aircraft.

4. LIST OF TOOLS
This section contains lists of:
Ÿ Special tools, which have a TO reference and Part Number (e.g. TO-07-004; F7XC2000701004A1),
Ÿ Standard tools, which do not have a Part Number, and for which the TO reference is repeated.
The list is divided into sections according to ATA chapters.
For each ATA chapter, tools are shown in the form of a table containing the following columns:
Ÿ REF (REFERENCE)
Tool generic reference, listed in alphanumerical order.
Ÿ P/N (PART NUMBER)
Tool Part Number.
When appropriate, includes a hyperlink to tool illustration.
Ÿ DESIGNATION
Designation of the tool.
Ÿ A/C
Indicates applicability of the tool.
Ÿ KIT
Composition of the kit, with hyperlink to subcomponent generic references.

Remarks, if any, concerning use of tool.

The acronym IOB (ITEM ON BOARD) in this column indicates that the tool is in the aircraft on-board kit.

5. Calibration of tools
Use calibrated tools as required by applicable regulations.
The maximum permissible error of a tool must be compatible with the value and tolerances to be measured,
in accordance with industry standards such as ISO14253-1.
The following rules are provided as a general guide, and may be applied to all Dassault Maintenance Manual
procedures:
A. Rule No 1
Use a calibrated tool whose maximum permissible error is 10 times lower than the tolerance value
specified in the maintenance procedure, or 1% of the measured value in the case of a single-limit
tolerance.
Examples:
Ÿ Make sure that the voltage is 28 ± 0.5 V
Recommended maximum permissible error for voltmeter: 0.05 V
Ÿ Make sure that the pressure is ≤ 1800 psi
Recommended maximum permissible error for pressure gage: approx. 18 psi.
Ÿ Make sure that the pressure is ≥ 500 psi
Recommended maximum permissible error for pressure gage: approx 5 psi.

B. Rule No 2
If rule No. 1 cannot be complied with, and a tool with larger maximum permissible error is used, adapt
the tolerance required by the procedure according to the maximum permissible error of the tool used.
Examples:
Ÿ Make sure that the voltage is 28 ± 0.5 V.
Voltmeter error: ± 0.1 V
Value reading must be 28 ± 0.4 V.
Ÿ Make sure that the pressure is ≤ 1800 psi.
Pressure gage error: 50 psi.
Tool reading must be ≤ 1750 psi.
Ÿ Make sure that the pressure is ≥ 500 psi.
Pressure gage error: 50 psi.
Tool reading must be ≥ 550 psi.
