(a) Which approach should you use for providing a feedback which calls for an
improvement? Describe the approach and its components in detail (5 marks)
I would use the Sandwich approach for providing feedback that calls for improvement.
Steps to be followed in the sandwich approach are:
➢ Soft and positive opening: I would first greet the person to whom I want to give
the feedback and ask him/her about how they are doing. I would also let them
know about the positive work they have done which was beneficial for others in
some way or another.
➢ Improvement conversation: I would then talk to them that regardless of doing
good work, there is scope for improvement, and I would jot down points with
facts and data which would be goal-oriented, where they would be able to
understand more regarding their improvement to be done.
➢ Soft ending: I would then let them know that they can rely on me if they need any
help or further assistance for the improvement needed. If I am a senior employee
to that person and we are working in the same team or same company where
he/she is reporting to me, then I would also fix the next meeting for analyzing the
improvement and having conversations regarding it.
(b) Write a feedback e-mail to the Accounts Department
Dear Rahul,
As communicated earlier, we, the marketing team, had organized an event called
TecWonza in Rohtak city where we engaged with our customers and provided them free
coupons and discounts related to the products. During the event, many of our team
members had contributed monetarily to make the event successful and more engaging for
the audience. The event was held on 25th Feb, 21, and all the documents related to the
bills and expenditure done for the event were submitted on 26th Feb, 21 to the Accounts
Department.
However, the reimbursement amount has not been received by our end after we got
approval for the same. We request you to kindly check on the reimbursement process of
this amount and please let us know if anything else has to be done from our end in order
to proceed further.

2. (a) Describe a situation in your life (can be personal, academic, or professional) that
had a major impact on your self-esteem (either positive or negative)? (5 marks)
Since I had joined IIM Rohtak as a student, I had been very shy and underconfident in
talking to other students and stating my opinions whenever group discussions happened.
During my Term1, I hardly participated in the lecture and was shy in making friends. I
had a conversation with one of our seniors, who discussed this with me and told me that I
am one of the good students of the Institute and I should believe in myself more. I took
time, but I started working on myself and confidently stating my points in the lectures as
well. I also became active in the group tasks allotted to us by the faculties and I started
taking leadership in those tasks, where I guided and divided the work to be done after
having group discussions. I noticed people started appreciating me and were willing to
take me in their groups which helped me build my self-esteem, and I started to take up
more responsibilities due to this. This helped me become a more confident person, but it
also helped me understand the concepts of subjects even more.
(b) What were your key learnings from this situation? (5 marks)
➔ Nobody is perfect. We all make mistakes and we learn from them, we all have the
capacity to do much better and we should trust ourselves in the process
➔ Teamwork: Working in teams has helped me become a better team player and has
also helped me develop leadership qualities and take responsibilities for the self
and for others.
➔ Becoming a leader with no title: I also understood from my experience that it is
not any tag or position that influences others but it is our behavior and work that
ultimately defines how others treat us.
