Case Manager Posting

Virginia Beach Justice Initiative (VBJI) is seeking a full-time Case Manager to join our team!

At VBJI, we are on a mission to prevent human trafficking in our community and support those who have been
exploited on their journey to freedom. We offer the Prevention Project™ to middle and high schools, and through our
Offramps™ program, we identify incarcerated victims of human trafficking, advocate for alternative sentencing in the
courts and provide other practical assistance to support them. Today, our on-staff case managers and a team of
trained volunteer victim advocates are working with more than 150 survivors of sex trafficking in our community.

This position works with our Senior Case Manager and reports directly to the Victim Services Director. Following
best practices, the Case Manager:
● will provide trauma-informed case management services to clients of VBJI;
● is responsible for intake and coordination of services for those who have experienced sexual exploitation;
● will advocate for and support clients of VBJI as they navigate through different systems and community
resources including: the criminal justice system, reentry/transition back into the community, employment
services, stable housing, and community supportive services; and,
● will embrace the mission and core values of VBJI.

The successful candidate will demonstrate:


● five or more years of training, experience, and knowledge commensurate with the position;
● previous experience working with marginalized populations or victims of sexual violence and/or human
trafficking;
● crisis intervention, problem-solving, and conflict resolutions skills;
● the ability to work collaboratively with criminal justice system professionals, partner organizations, and
those providing community resources;
● strong interpersonal, organizational skills;
● sound decision-making and critical thinking skills;
● excellent verbal and written communication skills;
● the ability to manage multiple clients simultaneously;
● the ability to work independently and as a team member;
● patience and compassion for those with criminal backgrounds and/or mental health/substance abuse
issues, without judgment; and,
● healthy boundaries.

Other job requirements include:


● a bachelor’s degree is required (preferably in social work, criminal justice, victim advocacy, psychology or
other related field);
● must possess a valid driver’s license, insurance, and safe driving record; and,
● successful completion of a criminal background check, central registry child abuse and neglect
background check, and a psychological evaluation.
