Topic: Languages in the Philippines

Philippines has 183 languages spoken in the Philippines, but most Filipinos speak three languages in the
Philippines, Tagalog or Filipino, English and Mother tongue.
8 major languages in the Philippines:

1. Tagalog
2. Ilocano
3. Pangasinan
4. Pampango
5. Bicol
6. Cebuano
7. Hiligaynon
8. Waray-Samarnon

Major Languages.
1.Tagalog-language spoken by the ethnic Tagalog people and the basis of the national language
(officially called "Filipino" since 1987 Constitution) it is the official language of the Philippines
Constitution.
2.Ilocano-language that most Filipinos speak in Northern Luzon.
3.Pangasinan - the primary and predominant Philippines native language of the entire province of
Pangasinan.
4.Pampango or Kapampangan-the predominant language of the entire Pampanga Province.
5.Bicol-original settlers of Bicol were said to be composed of the Tagalog (Camarines Norte and del
Sur) and Visayans(Masbate and Sorsogon) the migration and isolation of the people have begun
different dialect.
6.Cebuano - one of the most widely spoken Philippines local languages and also known as "Bisaya".
7.Hiligaynon-is often referred as"Ilonggo"mainly in Western Visayas.
8.Waray-Samarnon-native language of the Waray people and the Abaknon people of Capul.
