Once the idea is complete, it is marked with a period.

We use commas

Nevertheless, if the date is not complete, the comma is omitted.
 When the sentence flow needs to be interrupted.

 Before a tag question.
 Between words such as: however, therefore, etc.

Attn: Mr David Choi

Sales Manager
Everlong Batteries
171 Choi Hung Road
Hung Hom
Hong Kong

Dear Mr Choi

Re. Order No. 768197

I am writing to inform you that the goods we ordered from your company have
not been supplied correctly.

On 4 July 2016 we placed an order with your firm for 12,000 ultra super long-
life batteries. The consignment arrived yesterday but contained only 1,200
batteries.

This error put our firm in a difficult position, as we had to make some
emergency purchases to fulfil our commitments to all our customers. This
caused us considerable inconvenience.

I am writing to ask you to please make up the shortfall immediately and to

ensure that such errors do not happen again. Otherwise, we may have to look
elsewhere for our supplies.

I look forward to hearing from you by return.

Yours sincerely

Mr. David White

Atria, Inc.
37 Cochituate Place, 113
Framingham, MA 01701

Dear Mr. White:

I will be graduating from MIT in June with a bachelor´s degree in computer science and am
interested in opportunities at Atria.

I have worked as an intern with Loral Infrared and Imaging Systems for the past two summers in
their software engineering department. While there I developed data stream emulation software
for the NASA AIRS weather satellite in C on UNIX and Macintosh platforms. At MIT, I worked in
the Earth and Planetary Science Department to create a graphic user interfacing system for
viewing data sent back by the Magellan Spacce probe orbiting Venus. This experience would be
applicable to the creation of the GUI for the up-coming version of Clearcasse revision control
tools. While I have taken general course work in computer science, I have taken additional courses
in media arts, system design, algorithms, and artificial intelligence.

I would welcome the opportunity to meet with you and discuss my qualifications for working at
Atria. I believe my training has given me the skills to make a valuable contribution. I look forward
to learning from you soon.

Sincerely,

Chris Markey
