Celebrate the holidays with these simple but festive
embroidery patterns. It’s perfect for the beginner embroiderer!

Materials

3 Herbal Dyed Embroidery

Floss Packs (1 Sea Reef,
1 Sunset, 1 Monochromatic)

Additional Materials

Colors:
8” Embroidery Hoop Randomly select colors to use for each tree

Stitches:
Embroider 4-5 tree’s in each color. The 3 tree’s
Scissors below can all be completed using the straight stitch.

Water Soluble Pen Satin Stitch Tree. Complete this tree using the satin
stitch

Fabric

Finishing:
Finished Dimensions Wash your fabric in cold water and lay flat to dry.

Holiday Tree Pattern

The Pattern:
Using your water-soluble pen, mark a small “X”
every 2” across on your fabric. Then complete the
same throughout the fabric being sure to alternate.
Don’t worry! It does not have to be exact. If you
prefer, you can randomly place your “X’s”

Holiday Joy Pattern Decorative Snowflake Pattern

The Pattern:
Using your water-soluble pen, freehand the word
“JOY” (or any other word of your choosing) onto
your fabric. Be sure to leave about a 1” inch
circumference around the letters.
Colors:
For the word, “Joy” use the darkest color in your
monochromatic floss pack. For the Christmas
lights, use an assortment of the sea reef pack and
the sunset pack
The Pattern:
Using your water-soluble pen, freehand the
following design on your fabric (or make up your
own)
Embroider the red lines using the backstitch
Embroider all the dashes and arrows using the
straight stitch
Embroider the black circles using a french knot.

Stitches and Strands:

Embroider the word “joy” using the backstitch

Stitch the lights using the straight stitch. Make

your first straight stitch then using then start your
second stitch from the same entry point as stitch 1
and make this stitch go slightly longer and to the
left.

Finishing:
Wash your fabric in cold water and lay flat to dry.

Once dry, your fabric can be sewn into a table

runner, a pillow or simply left in your hoop to
hang.
