CPLAST 114
High Range Retarding Super plasticizer for Ready Mix Concrete

Description
CPLAST 114 is a Napthalene based high range Super Plasticizer (Retarding Type) formulated to attain high
dispersion for effective water reduction and slump retention in concrete mixes. CPLAST 114 confirms to
performance requirements of BIS 9103, Type ’A’, ‘F’ & ‘G’ of ASTM C 494, and EN934 part2.

Applications
Ready mix & precast Concrete Precast concrete
Concretes with long hauls. Low water/binder ratio mixes
For mixes upto 25 % water reduction Reduced Shrinkage cracks in hot climates
Compatible with PFA/ GGBFS mixes Congested/complex reinforced sections
Metakaolin/ Silica Fume binders and ternary mixes

Advantages
Reduction in water content Increased compressive strength
Increased workability and slump retention Reduction in cement content
Imparts cohesion and eases pumping of concrete Better surface finish due to better dispersion
Improved durability by reduced permeability of cement.
 Congested/complex reinforced sections
Typical Properties
Appearance : Brown free flowing liquid pH :≥6
Relative Density : 1.22 ± 0.2 @25°C Chloride Ion content : ≤ 0.2%
Dry Material Content: 43.5%

Dispensing
CPLAST 114 is supplied as dark brown solution which is instantly dispersible in water. The correct quantity
of CPLAST 114 should be measured by means of a recommended dispenser.

Dosage and Directions for use

Normal dosage rates of CPLAST 114 vary between 0.4% - 1.6 % by weight of Cementitious material.
Optimum dosage of CPLAST 114 should be determined by trials. Exact dosage rate depends on quality &
quantity of binders, W/C ratio, fine aggregates gradation, ambient temperature and performance
requirements.
CPLAST 114 is supplied in liquid form. It should be added in supplied form mixed with batching water.
Depending on the slump required and time elapsed concrete premixed with CPLAST 114, an additional
dose of 0.1 to 0.4% by W/C may be added to regain workability loss and compensate for water loss in

mixes. The mix shall be thoroughly mixed/ agitated at a speed of 12 rpm for at least 5 minutes before
unloading.
Effects of Overdosing
Marginal overdosing of CPLAST 114 (Say upto 0.4% W/C) may not adversely affect the ultimate strength of
concrete and may also achieve higher strengths than normal concrete. Noticeable delayed retardation
occurs when Sulphate Resisiting Cements/Supplementary Cementitous Materials are used and ambient
temperatures are low.
Severe overdosing of CPLAST 114 ( Say 0.4% to 0.8 %) can lead to high workability mixes with segregation
& bleeding, prolonged duration of initial and final set, increased air entrainment and plastic shrinkage
cracks.
Please consult Technical Department of CBS Chemicals for recommendation before placing concrete
overdosed with admixtures.

Compatibility
In most cases CPLAST 114 is compatible to be used in combination with Ligno sulphonate admixtures, air
entrainers, accelerators, retarders, extended set control admixtures, corrosion inhibitors and shrinkage
reducing admixtures however trials should conducted and checked for its performance.

Packaging
CPLAST 114 is supplied in 210 Ltr HDPE drums, Alternatively 1000 Ltr totes and bulk deliveries can be
arranged.

Storage & Shelf Life

CPLAST 114 should be stored in a shaded cool and dry place. Shelf life of CPLAST 114 is 12months from the
date o manufactured if kept in unopened, undamaged , original sealed packaging and kept within the
range of 15°C to 35°C.

Health & Safety

CPLAST 114 is non hazardous. However it should not be swallowed or allowed to come into contact with
skin and eyes. Suitable protective gloves and goggles should be worn. Splashes on the skin should be
removed with water. In case of contact with eyes rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical
advice. If swallowed, seek medical attention immediately - do not induce vomiting.
CPLAST 114 is water based and non flammable.
