Introduction

● Almost every educational institute now embraces the use of the library
due to adequate information dissemination to their staff and students.
● Managing a large scale library system requires lots of transactions like
issue of books, return of books, addition of new books, addition of new
students etc. to be generated.
● It is therefore necessary to set up a more efficient way of managing these
data with the help of a Library Management System.
Introduction (continued)

● A Library management system (L.M.S) is a computerized system

that helps in managing and monitoring the library’s daily activities
in electronic format thereby reducing risks such as file loss, file
damage and time-consuming.
● This system supports the general requirement of the library
services like cataloguing, circulation, monitoring and report
generation of library materials.
