July:

Brain imaging & mood: The role of the brain in mental

health

Date: 14 July 2021

Time: 12 noon (1 hour)

This webinar will explore how adaptable the brain is and what neuroscience
research is telling us about the experience of moods. Brain scans let us look at
the structure or architecture of the brain and how it is functioning while we
think or feel emotions. Discoveries about how the brain develops and changes
and how we can impact that, are important to understanding the experience of
mood disorders.

 Dr Dara Cannon, Neuroscientist, researcher and lecturer at NUI

Galway.
Dara is a neuroscientist who drinks too much tea, runs about after her kids,
and spends a lot of time thinking about the brain. She teaches human brain
anatomy to the students in medicine and science at NUI Galway and runs a
small laboratory using brain scanning to understand mood and anxiety
disorders and collaborates with other academics internationally on these
questions.
