1.Purpose of the course

The purpose of this course is to help the student understand a brief history of the Seventh- day
Adventists. It begins from the denomination founding to the present day church. The course
answers such question as what to Adventism stand for? Where did it come from? And where is it
heading?
The course covers a historical period of over seventy years of the denominational development
that is now known to be a great movement of a bible oriented Christian group.

2.Expected learning outcomes

i. The student(s) shall be able to know who the Adventist are.
ii. The student(s) shall be able to describe what Adventism stand for, where it came from
and where it is heading.
iii. The student shall be able to distinguish the group from other religious groups.
iv. The student shall be able to evaluate the seventh day Adventism’s claim of being a
prophetic movement with a prophetic mission.

v. Era of Organizational Development (1848 — 1863)
vi. Era of I institutional and Lifestyle Development (1863—1888)
Mid-quarter (OCT 12-15)
vii. Era of Revival, Reform, and Expansion (1888 — 1900)
viii. Era of Reorganization and Crisis (1901 — 1910)
ix. Era of Worldwide Growth (1910 -1955)
x. The Challenges and Possibilities of Maturity (1955 -)
Final examinations (NOV 22- DEC 2)

4.Mode of delivery
The class time will be on Mondays and Wednesday from (8.00am-9.00am).
The primary mode of instruction will be through the Moodle e-learning platform.
The students will be required to attend all class sessions on time.
The instructor shall give assignments and quizzes.
The students are to prepare for mid-semester and Final Examination.
