Situation 1:
Karachi, a sprawling metropolis of more than 20 million people, was one of the worst-hit by the urban
flooding. Record rains flooded Pakistan’s largest city and paralyzed the city authorities. This year, Pakistan
has seen some of the most intense monsoon rains, with more than 189 people killed and thousands of homes
washed away in flooding across the country, according to the country’s National Disaster Management
Authority (NDMA).
