ESSAY TYPE ANSWER QUESTIONS

Ans 1)In the poem “WALL” by D. S. Dadhalkar he has used the word walls to describe the separation and
division between the mankind for their own selfish needs and thinking. The walls really were created to
define one nation as they said but actually these are created just to divide human beings on the basis of
caste, religion, creed, race, color, gender and what not. Even the man has created artificial walls in their
mind regarding these words which they think define one’s character and own self, they judge people in
their minds like this and have created a whole different scenario of how things are and should be. Even
today people have this mentality. The rational thinkers are trying to break down these walls but the
conservatives just bring them down. Wars, battles, fights have been there in the whole history in the
name of these walls and the people who have tried to break them have been rewarded with their
bloodshed and of others too, violence was seen in the history for these walls-literal or metaphorical-
and violence is seen today too for these walls. So, it takes revolts and revolutions-of which history is
filled with-to demolish these walls which are being passed from generations to generations and I guess
will continue too.

Ans 2)According to my opinion the poet believes in the war free and happy future of the world where all
the human beings are living peaceful and joyful lives and that’s what we pass on to the next
generations and not the walls. He says that he will demolish each and every wall built in the way of
togetherness to make people separate and once he has done that he will build new houses there for the
people who support his rational thinking and the others would be welcome to die. Yes I think that the
poet was very optimistic at the end of the poem by hoping this very perfect future of mankind which I
believe is totally correct and worth. The walls built in our mind are not allowing us to be in love with
everyone and have peace in the world. These need to be broken and then and then only world will be a
better place to live and grow.

Ans 3)We, people usually build walls of our houses to have a sense of security and safety, for our own
decorations and beauty and sometimes even to show off. But in the poem “WALL” the poet-D. S.
Dadhelkar is talking about the walls built by our ancestors to create boundaries between nations literally
and within the people’s mind metaphorically on the basis of caste, creed, religion, race, color, gender,
etc. These walls need to be demolished as for world peace because many wars and battles have been
fought in the history for these walls, violence and bloodshed was seen in the past as well as can be seen
in the present and for it not to be seen in the future we need to demolish these walls. The walls we built
are for the sense of security and safety we get and for our privations but the walls that have been built
by our grandpas of that generation for nations or within minds needs to be broken. That’s what the poet
is trying to say in the poem. When he saw the history of the walls he was surprised of what they have
done in the world and that’s why even today people are kept within the walls, which needs to be
demolished.
