This study aimed to determine the disaster awareness and

preparedness of senior high school students at Sto. Tomas National High

School. A descriptive-comparative design and quantitative approach was

used to determine their awareness and preparedness when it comes to

disasters. A sample of 116 respondents comes from the General

Academic Strand (GAS) and Home Economics students. The data

gathered were statistically treated using Shapiro-Wilk test, frequency

counts percentages, weighted mean, t-test for independent sample and

analysis of variance (ANOVA). Findings revealed that the respondents are

very much aware when it comes to their disaster awareness and disaster

preparedness. It was also found out that significant difference existed on

the disaster awareness of the students when grouped according to

strand. However, significant difference did not exist on the disaster

preparedness of the students when grouped according to their profile

such as sex, age, parents’ educational attainment, and strand.

Researchers recommended that parents should be a role model in

acquiring information on having knowledge about disaster. Furthermore,

Educational institution should implement Disaster Risk Reduction and

Readiness (DRRR) or disaster-related-subjects, drills, and trainings in
