TRANSCRIPTION IN PROKARYOTES OR IN BACTERIA:

i.In bacteria, there are three major types of RNAs like mRNA, tRNA and rRNA.All
three RNAs are needed to synthesise a protein in a cell.
ii.The mRNA provides the template, tRNA brings aminoacids and reads the genetic
code, and rRNAs play structural and catalytic role during translation.
iii. There is single DNA-dependent RNA polymerase that catalyses transcription of all
types of RNA in bacteria.
There are three steps;
a.INITIATION:
RNA polymerase binds transiently with sigma factor and initiation factor that initiates
process of transcription.
The strand with 3' 5' act as template strand.
ELONGATION:
RNA polymerase helps in opening of helix and continues elongation.
RNA polymerase polymerises the ribonucleosides in the 5'-3' direction.
The nucleoside triphosphates are used both as substrates as well as energy source.

TERMINATION:
When the RNA polymerase reaches to the terminator region, mRNA gets separated
from DNA.
Termination is aided by a protein factor Rho also known as termination factor.
