and absorb the PMI®’s PMP® Handbook (30 Minute reading)

▪ PMI®’s PMP® Handbook covers all aspects prerequisites, creating and submitting your
application including all steps and exceptions

Training Requirements: Project Experience:

• 35 contact hours of project • Experience in leading and directing


management training project "tasks"
• The KnowledgeHut training program • 4500 hours over at least 36 months
enables you to meet PMI®'s 35 hour with a four year Bachelor’s Degree or
training requirement global equivalent
• 7500 hours over at least 60 months
with a High School/Diploma
PMP® Application: Payment:
• Completed, submitted and accepted • $405 for PMI Members
PMP Application • $555 for Non-PMI Members

The PMP® Application Process

Application Process: Scheduling Your Exam:

▪ Once your PMP® Application is submitted, ▪ You need to schedule and pass the PMP®

▪ Meeting Education Requirement - 35 hours of education/training
▪ Create an account on PMI website and join as a PMI member (recommended)
▪ Start Your PMP® Application:
▪ Important to list accurate contact details
▪ Project descriptions are important
▪ Do not include overlapping projects experience
▪ Provide experience in all five process groups
(On a single project, you need not have experience in all five process groups)
▪ Avoid red flags
▪ Line up your contacts from previous projects for a possible audit
▪ Submit application for review and pay the exam fee
▪ If selected for an audit, clear audit requirements, else, you get a notification to schedule the exam

Preparing for Your PMP® Exam

▪ Make a study plan and stick to it


▪ Set a realistic date for taking the exam and schedule it (2-3 months out recommended)
▪ Read the PMBOK® Guide – Sixth Edition at least twice
▪ Master Earned Value and Critical Path areas, know your formulas
▪ Take as many sample questions as possible
▪ Once passed, you are PMP® certified for 3 years. Congratulations.
▪ You need to earn 60 PDUs within 3 years to maintain your certification for the next 3 years.

▪ Setup a study plan and stick to it


▪ Start your study program early, do not wait 9 months
▪ Uninterrupted study time is best
▪ Form a group study with others (if that works for you)
▪ Stay positive (this too shall pass)
▪ Eat well, exercise and get enough sleep
▪ Do not study for more than an hour before the exam; get a good night’s sleep
