Annual Report 2010

We build strong kids,

strong families,
strong communities.
Message from the Board Chairperson and CEO
The past year has been a year of transition and transformation at our
YMCA. We have focused our efforts on developing solutions that are
financially responsive and that position us to evolve to meet the needs of
our community. Our growth has resulted in the development of projects
and collaborations that bring us closer to making our strategic goals a
reality. Some of the highlights include:
 We have realigned our Health, Fitness, Recreation and community
based programs to ensure financial stability. These changes have
created exciting synergies and opportunities. These synergies have
enabled the launch of two new programs, Focus on Youth and the
YMCA Kids Club. These free programs operate after school and
during the summer at over 26 locations serving close to 5,000
children.
 The introduction of YMCA Licensed Child Care. We are providing top
quality childcare services for over 100 families in our community at
three locations.
 The renovation at the Merv Katzman YMCA has allowed us to expand
to meet growing needs of an evolving downtown Windsor.
We now have improved child care, multipurpose space and youth
programming areas.
 We have developed a business plan for the capital development of a
new YMCA facility. We will be expanding our quality programs to
meet the needs of our community. This project would not be possible
without the leadership of our capital development committee.

We want to thank YMCA Canada, YMCA Ontario, and our YMCA

colleagues from across Canada for their expertise and professional
support over the last year. Thank you to our many funding and operating
partners for their continued support of our YMCA.
Finally, thank you to the YMCA of Windsor and Essex County leadership
team of Board, volunteers and staff professionals who have drawn on
their expertise and commitment to revitalize our association’s pride.
