Course Overview

Cathodic protec on is a mature technique for

controlling corrosion of steel structures immersed in

waters, buried in soils and imbedded in concrete. This

5-day advanced course thoroughly and systema cally

covers the fundamental principles of cathodic

protec on and its prac cal applica ons such as marine

and offshore structures in seawater environment, storage tanks and pipelines buried in soils, and

reinforcing steels embedded in concrete structures. The course will provide detailed informa on

on cathodic protec on specifica on, design, commissioning, tes ng and monitoring. Applicable

standards such as NACE, BS/ISO, AS and DnV relevant to cathodic protec on design will be
discussed. State-of-the-art anode materials for cathodic protec on will be presented. Par cipants

will gain advanced knowledge and skills in cathodic protec on of common types of steel structures
immersed in waters, buried in soils and imbedded in concrete. Included in the course notes are the
10-Step Guides to the design of galvanic anode cathodic protec on system and impressed current

cathodic protec on system. Hands-on prac cal sec ons provide opportuni es for par cipants to
operate the devices and instruments used in cathodic protec on. Engineers, architects and

designers will grasp the theories and prac ces of cathodic protec on which would lead to
