Activating
FactoryTalk View Machine Edition uses activation files to activate its software packages.
Without activation, FactoryTalk View Studio runs for a grace period of seven days, and
then runs in demo mode, allowing two hours of use and no more than five displays
(including the three default displays).
Without activation, FactoryTalk View ME Station also provides a seven-day grace period
before running in demo mode on personal computers. Activation is not required for
PanelView™ Plus and PanelView Plus CE terminals.
There are two methods for activating FactoryTalk View Machine Edition:
using FactoryTalk Activation Server software to download and transfer activation
files.
using an Activation disk containing EvRSI activation files. This method is available
only if you are upgrading from a previous version of RSView Machine Edition
software.
FactoryTalk Activation will replace EvRSI activation in a future release. If you are
using EvRSI activation, please contact your local Rockwell Automation Sales office or
Technical Support for information about migrating your activations to FactoryTalk
Activation.
FactoryTalk Activation
FactoryTalk Activation provides a secure, software-based system for activating Rockwell
Software products and managing software activation files. With FactoryTalk Activation,
there is no need for a physical “master disk” or any physical media; instead, activation
files are generated and distributed electronically.

You can also find detailed information, instructions, and troubleshooting tips in the
FactoryTalk Activation Help.
After installing the FactoryTalk Activation software, click Start > All Programs >

Activation files
FactoryTalk View Studio uses the activation files RSV.STUDIO or RSVME.STUDIO.
For FactoryTalk View ME Station running on a personal computer, the particular
activation files depend on the licensing you purchase, and determine how many displays
your applications can contain:
RSVME.250 comes with a license for 250 displays
RSVME.RUN comes with a license for 75 displays.
RSVME.30 comes with a license for 30 displays.
RSVME.15 comes with a license for 15 displays.

activations currently in use and borrowed, from the total number of activations. Also

n/a in the Borrowed column.

activations will expire. The default value for the date and time is set to the earliest
expiration date found in the group of borrowed activations. This is the maximum
amount of time before the group of borrowed activations will expire.

check box is not selected, FactoryTalk View will no longer be activated when you
