Candida Albicans is an opportunistic infection and this occurs when the body’s defense mechanisms are

impaired in such a way that it allows overgrowth of the fungus. The drug of choice for this will be and
antifungal or antimycotic drug, Fluconazole. One reason why the patient manifested with this infection
is because of having diabetes as this is one of the risk factors in development of candidiasis. As blood
sugar levels in diabetic patient can spike unreasonably high, this increase can cause yeast, particularly in
vaginal area, to overgrow. This in turn makes the body to have yeast infection as a response. To help
reduce the infection, maintaining blood sugar may help.
