1. Preface
We would like to thank you for choosing our CKE6140 machine. We'd like to build a good
felationship between us via the machine , and we also hope our sincerely service could
satisfy you.
1.1 Application scope
This Manual only gives the statements and stipulations on the installation, operation and
some maintenance of the electric system, and the user is kindly requested to observe this
Manual in order to operate machine safely and stipulately. As to the mechanical operation
and workpiece programming not included in this Manual, please refer to the CNC System
Operation Manual, CNC System Maintenance Manual & Instruction Book etc., which are
supplied with the machine.
1.2 Operating staff
This Manual should be studied, applied and managed by these persons who know electric
speciality very well or by electricians
1.3 User's rights and interests
This Manual is only for the end-user who purchases our machine, and they are also
required to keep the technology confidential. This Manual isn’t permitted to be reproduced,
duplicated and copied without any written authorization, nor to supply them to the other
users. If any violation of the above mentioned rules, the user should compensate us for the
loss according to the law.

CKE6140 is the new generation CNC automatic lathe developed by DTG. This kind of CNC
automatic lathe, incorporated with many years’CNC automatic lathe developing experience
and up-to-date CNC automatic lathe designing concept, is of flat bed. This kind of CNC
lathe shall be the first selection of the customer for its good economic and practical
applicablity. The CNC automatic lathe CKE6140i can be equipped with the following CNC
system: FANUC Oi-MATE TD, FANUC—Oi-TD, YASKAWA JSOL,SIEMENS 802D, FAGOR 8055T
and FAGOR 80557 etc. So multi-cycle machining can be done to the parts. The machine is
universal one, especially for war industry, auto, tractor and metallurgy industry etc. It con
perform serni—finish and finish turning of the all sorts of shaft and disc parts. On this
machine, internal/external cylindrical surfaces, taper surface, thread, boring, reaming and
ny other curves can be performed.
Basic configuration
1). The CNC automatic lathe CKE6140 is constructed in flat bed. Both the bed and plinth is
cast by resin sand, which have been processed by ageing. The induction hardened guideway
offers high solid rigidity.
2).Two main drives
Universal type: dual—speed motor, as can make the machine perform 6 manual speed
ranges and automatic speed changed in each range.
Inverter drive type: Inverter drive motor is adopted and 2 manual speed ranges or
automatic ranges can be realized, moreover infinite speed change is in each range.
3). The feed system consists of servo motor, precision ball screw with high rigidity precision
composite bearing, so the feed system has high positioning accuracy and high transmission
efficiency.
4), The standard accessory of the machine is vertical 4station tool post, and horizontal
6-station turret is optional.
5). Hydraulic chuck and hydraulic tailstock can be provided tailored to the customer.
6). Pressure lubrication can be done to the saddle and slide by the separate centralizing
lubricator. The headstock is equipped with separate lubrication unit.
7). The machine is quipped with separate cooling system,
8). The following CNC system as FANUC Oi-MATE, YSKAWA J50A and SIEMENS 8020 are
available for customer to select.
9). The streamline external guarding makes the machine beautiful, peculiar, water-proof,
swarf-proof and easy to maintain.
10). The independent control box can be moved in longitudinal direction, which facilitates
the operator's aligning tools as near as possible. The control panel, with the touch buttons,
is both beautiful and reliable.
11). For the coolant through tool post, itis good for machining parts without raising tool
post and it also avoids the coolant splashing;
12). Both the saddle and slide way mating surfaces ore with Turcite~B, so the moving parts
can jog and have no crawling.KE4274-018

3, Safety instruction
Enough attention must be paid to the electric safety, which can help to ensure the
safety of the operator and maintenance person, and avoid unexpected injuries and deaths,
so the machine can also be kept in good running state. Although when designing the
machine, safety devices have been supplied to the machine to ensure the human safety of
the operator and maintenance person, yet any disobeying the operator safety rules will
cause human injuries or accidents. So the operator or maintenance person should read
thoroughly and carefully the safety precaution we give and obey it strictly.
3.1 General safety precautions
(1) Medium and high—woltage terminals are mounted inside the electric cabinet and the
console. These terminals cannot be touched by hand or other conductor. In addition, the
electric cabinet and the console cannot be opened at will besides the specialized
electricians maintain or service the machine;
(2) Nobody is permitted to touch the electric control element, switches or buttons with wet
hands;
(3) Always remember the position of the Emergency Stop button and the mains Switch ,
and prepare to operate them at anytime to avoid the accident;
(4) When replacing the fuse by the specialized electrician, the power must be turned off,
and the new fuse should be a rated one,
(5) Only the specialized maintenance person can carry out the maintenance and service,
and nobody else is permitted to do that
(6) When maintaining the machine, the maintenance persons must obey the concerning
electrician safety rules, for example, he must wear insulating shoes and put on the
maintenance and service marks
(7) Any nonspecialized maintenance persons mustn't open the electric cabinet or the
console. The specialized maintenance persons must use the specialized tools to open the
electric cabinet and console, at the same time, tag out the machine.
(8) The electric control system and control elements are inside the electric cabinet, so
never knock on or beat the cabinet, otherwise the error alarm and accident will result.
(9) Do not change the machine parameters and setting values of the electric elements at
will. Keep a good record for the original machine data and the setting values of the electric
element in order to manage the machine better.
(10) All the above-mentioned rules are only given on the safety, and for the details, please
refer to the Safety Operation Rules and Electric Maintenance Rules of our own company.
5.2 Notice before and after machine power on
(1) Before powering on the machine, make all the guarding doors closed to avoid the
outside matter, such as dust and chip etc. going inside the electric cabinet and the control
panel.
(2) If the machine power lead~in is on the floor, the necessary protection measures must
be taken, e.g. guarding covers. As can protect the lead-in from shorting or breaking by theKE4274-018

chip etc. Check regularly the lead-in for the following items: damage state, short, break or
poor contact ete. If any trouble occurs by the lead-in, it must be removed after turning off
the workshop mains switch and the machine mains switch immediately.
(3) Every time after machine power on, inspect if the lubricant purnp works normally and if
each fan functions normally. Provided any trouble occurs,it should be maintained in time.
(4) When trouble occurs to the machine [but the lead-in trouble must be removed
according to the above item (3)], the general operation procedure is as follows: frst press
emergency stop button to turn off the system, then press down the emergency stop
button,and finally switch off the machine mains. This operation sequence is also for
machine stop under normal condition, Provided emergency occurs to the machine, the
emergency stop button must be depressed.
3.3 Notice for starting the machine
(1) Before starting the machine, the workpiece must be clamped very firmly and the
guarding doors must be closed. It is not permitted to machine the workpiece with guarding
door open.
(2) While the machine is running , never touch or reach over the driving parts or rotating
parts, otherwise accident will occurs.
(3) Don’t touch any switch or button by wet or oiled hand.
(4) Never operate the machine with removing the quardings.
3.4 Notice for stopping machine
(1) If the machine will be stoppped after machining(or off work), you should obey the Item
"(4)" in Section 3.2.If the ambient temperature is over high, the electric cabinet should keep
heat radiation.
(2) Regularly remove the dust and outside matter inside the electric cabinet and console,
and the fan filters inside the cabinet and the control panel should be cleaned every 10-20
days, which can guarantee the heat radiation and ventilation normally. Especially in the dust
concentrated environment, the machine cleanness is much more important.
(3) Never wipe the control panel and CNC panel with chemical reagent to avoid chemical
action, Particularly, never wipe the CNC system fluorescent screen panel with any kind of
chemical reagent
(4) Don’t change or alter the set parameters randomly and don’t set the electric control
elements and the set values provided. Only the specialized maintenance person can do
some alteration, but which must be permitted by the relative technician(s) of our company.
(5) In the event of the machine is unused for some time, it should be powered on every 7
days to make the electric elements and CNC system energized and run for 2-3 hours, as
can keep the dryness of the electric cabinet and the control panel, and further to keep the
electric system and elements in good running environment. Provided the machine is unused
for very long without power, the parameters or program can be lost.
4. Brief introduction to electric system
The electric system of CKE6140i horizontal CNC automatic lathe consists of CNC controlKE4274-018

unit, AC servo drive unit as well as LO/HI voltage electric parts. The servo drive unit, servo
motor and CNC control unit are made up to semi closed loop control system, which makes
the machine have high machining and positioning accuracies.
Both the CNC control unit and the sevo drive unit are from FANUC, as makes the
machine have good price-performance ratio. Simultaneously, with the builtin PLC, the
machine can run reliabley and stably. From the above-mentioned, we can say it is a kind of
ideal CNC automatic lathe with high accuracy and high efficiency.

4.2 General introduction

(2) Main technical requirements
S-phase, 4—conductor AC electric network 440V.60Hz is adopted by the machine
power supply. Both the 3 phase—wires(L1,L2&L3) and 1 off neutral wire(N) are inlet from the
bottom of the electric cabinet to the terminals of L1,L2, L3 and PE in the main wiring board,
which is on the distributing board inside the cabinet. In factory, the PE has been connected
to the N terminal , so you only need to connect the neutral wire of the power supply to the
PE terminal. The section area of the power cable or wire should not be less than 6mm‘, and
the copper wire with high conductivity should be adopted. The protective earthing must be
grounded stably and reliably with the special earthing screws. The earthing resistance
should be less than 0.10. Network voltage: AC3-440V(+10%-~ -10%)

4, Earthing protection

The earthing between electric cabinet and machine is of 6mm yellow 8 green wire, While
the earthing between electric cabinet and other operational parts is 1-3mmyellow & green
wire.

5.3 Introduction to machine control panel
Notice:
The preconditions of the following buttons function are:
a.Machine mains switch is ON.
b.No alarm to CNC system and machine
c. CNC system is in running state
(1), System start/stop button SYSTEM sygeM
After pressing the system start button for 10-50. seconds, LCD will display the initial
screen to wait for operation, When depress the emergency stop button, the LCD screen will
display alarm. The main role of the system start button is to energy the system. When press
down the system stop button, the CNC system wil power off and there is no any display on
the LCD unit immediately. Provided you will turn off the machine mains, only after switching

(2). Emergency stop button
When the emergency stop button is depressed, the LCD unit will display alarm
information, then rotate the button clockwise to release it and the alarm wil disappear from
the LCD unit, What should be emphasized is that when machine is of overtravel, alarm wil
also be displayed on LCD unit ever*if press down the limit switch
(3). Dryrun oer
Dryrun is only active in auto mode. In this mode, the machine run at a constant speed
instead of the speed specified in the program, The machine running condition (without part)
can be detected in this mode. Normally, this function is applied for trid running the
program after editing the part machining program.
(4), Block skip Boon
SKIP.
The optional block /additional optional block skip is only active in auto mode.
5.Mode selection
There are altogether 5 kinds of work modes to be selected. Here touch panel buttons are
used to select work mode.
A. Editing mode oor
When the program protect switch is closed bykey, editing, modificantion, deletion or part
machining program transmission can be done.

B. Automatic mode [1
Select the part machining program from the memory (for the edited part machining
program ) and set the tool offset value. With the guarding door closed, press down the
CYCLE START button, and the machine will rn according to the part machining program.
Press the FEED HOLD button to make the machine dwell. If ony accident happens, press
down the emergency stop button,

C. MOI mode a
In MDI ( manual data input) mode, one program block can be input through LCD /MOI

D. JOG mode 06
In JOG mode, together with X- or Z-axis travel button, the jog of each axis can be
relized. Moreover, the jog speed can also be selected by the feed override switch and rapid
jog can be performed by the rapid feed button.
E. Handle/single—step mode

Only in this mode, can the MPG(manusl pulse generator) function, And at the same time,
X-onis or Z-axis direction and MPG override will also be selected by means of X— or Z~axis
directrion button. Single-step motion function can also be relized in this mode, The method
is: first, press the desired axis travel button by means of X—axis or Z-axis derectional
button, then select the override X1,X10 or X100 to travel

(6). Axis selection °
This button is used to select X-axis or Z-axis in MPG mode.

In MPG mode, the machine can perform jog by means of manual pulse generatior(MPG)
after ascertaining axis—selection signal.
Xi: IN MPG feed mode, press Xi button, then X1 pilot lamp will light and the min. increment
of MPG feed is X1. X1 means the machine will travel 0.001mm every time the MPG turns one
division,
X10: In MPG feed mode, press X10 button, then X10 pilot lamp will light and the min,
increment of MPG feed is X10. X10 means the machine will travel 0.0imm every time the
MPG truns one division.
X100: In MPG feed mode, press X100 button, then X100 pilot lamp will light and the min.
increment of MPG feed is X100. X100 means the machine will travel 0.1mm every time the
MPG turns one division.
(8). Zero return( optional) ser
If absolute position encoder is adopted, it is unnecessary to carry out zero return. This
button is only for the machine with mechanical zero return switch. The machine, before
operaton, must return to zero point. And the zero return method is as follows: after
pressing +X,+Z, then carry out zero retum by rapid travel button, then move to reference
point at a specified speed. When making zero return of the machine, the X-axis carries out
zero return before Z—axis, and avoid colliding between tailstock and tool post. If make
Z-axis return zero point first, alarm will occur.KE4274-018

When in MANUAL and Zero Return mode, depress +X button, to make the machine return
to reference point along with +X axis, When the machine returns to reference point, the
pilot lamp is ON; in other modes, when the machine is away from the reference point, the
pilot lamp is off.

When in MANUAL and Zero Return mode, depress +Z button to make the machine return
to reference point along with +Z axis. When the machine retruns to reference point, the
pilot lamp is ON; in other modes, when the machine is away from the reference point, the
pilot lamp is off.

Single block is only active in Auto mode. When the pilot lamp is ON, it is active. After
executing one block, the machine stops running. If press the Cycle Start button to execute
one more block, after executing, the machine will stop again.
(12). Program protect paaceny
‘The program protect key can prohibit the part machining program, offset value,
parameter and the stored data from being stored, modified or cleared by mistake. In
editting mode, switch it on bykey to edit or modify the part machining program. Before
executing part machining program, the program protect switch must be turned off.
(13). Cycle start button OYCLE
START
In auto mode, press the cycle start button, then the CNC system will start to execute
one part machining program or single block command. When press the cycle start button,
the machine and the CNC system must meet the necessary preconditions, such as, the
machine must be in the machining original point etc

(14). Cycle stop button ome
In automatic mode, press down this button, then CNC system will stop executing one
part machining program or single block command. And if press the RESET button on the

When the manual continuous feedrate is set to 1500mm/min by system parameter 1423,
the feedrate can be regulated between 0-2250mm /min by command G01 in manual feed
mode. Feedrate can also be adjusted between 0~2250mm /min by 0%-150% executing
program together with dry run button. When feedrate override switch is switched to position
0», «FEED ZERO* will show on LCD unit. The manual continuous feed rate can be set by
parameter 1423 tailored to customer's requirement. But the better choice is not to make
the feedrate more than 1500mm/min.
(17). Spindle speed ratio adjustment switch: n.][%en. | [Seo

Spindle deceleration; spindle at 100% spindle acceleration——(for inverter drive
spindle)
First, only when S code is executed in auto mode, can spindle speed be adjusted. In
‘auto mode, the spindle speed can be adjusted by the spindle speed percentage button. In
MDI mode, spindle speed ratio adjustment switch is also active.
Spindle speed deceleration range: the spindle speed can reduce from 150% to 60%.
Spindle speed at 100% Only when this button is active, con spindle speed in S code be
executed.
Spindle speed acceleration range: spindle speed can reach up to 150% of S code.

With machine lock function, we can monitor the displayed position change without
moving the machine. In this mode, all the machine lock signals ro axis(axes)-lock signal(s)
will be active. So in manual or automatic mode, pulse will not be transmitted, but command
can still be distributed, and absolute coordinate value and relative increment will also be
renewed. Thus the operator can check if the command is editted correctly by observing the
position change condition. Generally, the function is applied for checking the part machining
program command and location displacement.

5.7 Spindle speed change control
M03, M04: start the spindle (forward or reverse); MOS: the spindle stop.
(1), Dual speed headstock
There are two manual speed change rods. One is for choosing H(high),L(low)range; the
other is for 3 steps speed change within each range ; And exchanging dual speed motor
between high and low speed within each range is controled by S~code:S1 choose 4 (low
speed trun ,S3 choose double Y type thigh speed run.
(2). Inverter type headstock (this is an option)
‘The machine makes use of NC S—code to control the inverter; and the inverter controls
the inverter motor to adjust the spindle spped. For the relationship between S-code and
speed, refer to headstock nameplate.
(3). Single spindle inverter headstock
For CKE6140i: stepless speed adjusting can be realized within 200~ 3500 rev.
(4). Manual+-inverter type headstock
Spindle has high and low ranges :low is 32~650rpm,high is 125~2500rpm,Stepless
speed change can be realized within two ranges. When spindle exceed some range,range
converting should be operated. Steps as follows :Stop the spindle first , then put speed
change rad to the correspondling position by hand (the spindle can not be started until the
gear is on the proper position). After put it to the right position, input MO3 or M04 to start
ihe spindle. Also input S~code to appoint the speed.
(5). Speed auto change inverter headstock:
The main difference with speed manual change is that when spindle need change gear
ithe M41 and M42 commands can be edited in the program to change the spindle in the
proper position without stopping the spindle and do any manual operation.
5.8 Tool post control
4 station or 6-station tool post can be used optional)
Tools use TI digit command. And Tl~T4 ‘or T6)can be used assign one of the tools in
the corresponding tool post. The working principle of the tool post is: the tool post will swivel
forward after receiving command T, then it will find tool position by tool post Hall device,
next the tool post forward stop and delays; after that tool post reverse is on and it is
locked. T command has been achieved.
5.9 Hydraulic chuck/ hydraulic talstock optional
Don't rotate the spindle when operating the hydraulic chuck vice versa.
Two types of clamp are available-——internal and external clamp,it switch is in “Internal”
; the internal clamp could be selected, The same with “External” switch. The clamp /unclamp
of the hydraulic chuch can be controlled by the pedal switchi the chuck isn’t in clamp
state when the switch is in “internal clamp”or “external clamp",the system wil alarm.And
after the hydraulic chuck is in clamp state,clarm will be released automatically
